How? Genetics?

So, I have a butt and it seems like most competitors don't. I have never managed to lose my butt and some people are envious but it doesn't not seem to be the figure the judges are going for.

My waist is 24 inches and my hips (going around the fullest part of my butt) is 36 inches. I notice some competitors measurements and their hips are less than 10 inches larger than the waist, like 24-33, which just baffles me.

Is this genetic? Do I try to "flatten" my "ghetto booty" or just go with it? Is there a competition that likes it's competitors to be more full figured?

You are between a rock and a hard place Sophie. Just do your best in whatever you choose to compete in. Keep doing a balanced workout and focus your presentation routine on your strengths.

I agree. And yes, its primarily genetics.

I have about 8" between mine and have often lamented my lack of curves, but I don't thing there is much to be done about ones natural body shape. I think you should just go with it, do your best with what you have. If you work hard and achieve a muscular physique with a low bodyfat, I am sure the judges will have good things to say.

Good luck with it!

Darn genetics. I've never liked my curves. I don't want to have no curves, but my measurements just don't go together LOL. Just keep doing what I'm doing and maybe by some miracle my butt will lose some muscle.

The grass is not greener Sophie... I'm the opposite, I love my curves and wish I had more. My biggest hinderence to super fitness is the the way it carves the softness off the female body. I barely can hold on to my bodyfat when I exercise.

I don't think I'll ever lose my butt. Nothing I do seems to touch it. Guess we'll see what 5-6 months of training will do it. I can only hope it doesn't get even bigger.

i know this is a somewhat old thread, but whatever. i don't know how having a butt affects fitness competitions, but look at the bright side. most everyday guys like a nice, full booty.

Yeah, I guess. It's just hard to train knowing you don't have the genetics to look like they want.

ehh screw that attitude sophie. first off, you should be training for yourself and be happy as long as you're working hard to your goals. also, don't let your genetics limit you. not even all the top bodybuilders have the BEST genetics. they just worked their asses off and became the best they could be. if you try your best to reach your potential, it won't matter if you don't have the perfect genetics. after all, not all fitness models or competitors that i have seen look exactly the same.

you know what, you also stated earlier, that your figure doesnt go together??? huh??? 24-36??? thats what every supermodel in any magazine or filthy websites measurements are... 24-36 is what almost all women desire.

as for ripping your glutes apart, im sure your doing deep squats and deadlifts right? try doing GHR's!!! <--- I love em.

MAURER, trust me what I say I train for myself, not the judges. I just love being on stage. I just wish I had a shot at placing decently. I go knowing I won't do well because I don't have the "right" look.

westside24, while 24-26 may be the measurements of girls in "filthy" magazines, most runway and magazine models are sticks that don't have hips. And most figure and fitness competitors don't have hips either.

I thought pant sizes were messed up having a 10 difference between waist and hips, some figure and fitness competitors have LESS than 10 inches between waist and hips. I've never seen a figure or fitness competitor have a "full" shape. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place?
