Hst

Has anybody tried Brian Haycock's Hypertrophy-Specific Training? I hear it rather less than I hear about High-Intensity Training (which, judging from their methodologies, is a relative), and a bit more than I do about German Volume Training.

I've been idly turning over the idea of giving it a shot, and while I find his approach appealing, I don't like the fact that he's also selling supplements. I generally don't trust indivudually-generated training plans that remain heavily attached to an individual, though this is still pretty new.

Opinions, or better yet, experiences?

I gave it a try cougar and unless you start out with really low weights it is very difficult to add the recommended amount of weight each workout. I also didn't have a partner to help me out with the negatives so they didn't get used in my last group of workouts. All in all it was as useful as any other workout that I have done.

HST: an update

After making nothing but strength gains beforehand, I used TMOTH as a guinea pig for this stuff. After four weeks of it (starting out thirty pounds lighter than he's capable of for each microcycle), he's put an inch and a half on his chest and lost two inches off his waist.

Now I'm gonna try ME this stuff and I'll be happy if my results are half as good...

I'm glad you posted that link Cougar, thank you. I've been doing a (apparently) botched HST program for over a month now. I don't typically keep my measurements on file, but my 30º incline bench has went up considerably. I went from 205 to 225 for my sets of 10. I've also put on 3 pounds of presumed muscle in the last month.

I haven't done flat bench in for quite some time now. I personally like having a reasonably big bench press poundage figure (it's an ego thing ), so I'm hoping it's not suffering TO much.
