Is it possible to get abs that look hard, tight and toned without using weights?

If it is, how would I work the ab area to acheive a look like above? Thanks in advance.

Well, you could lose bodyfat. But if you don't incorporate strength training, than the muscle underneath ain't gonna look too great.

Don't be scared of the weights. I'm sure Bif uses them too. :

Perfect diet, lots of cardio = tiny skinny woman who looks like lance armstrong.

Lift some weights.

Oh, and if you want to look like her - make sure that the tattoo guy is using new, clean stuff.

Well, "abs" doesn't always mean a six-pack; and her abs look pretty damn good. Anyways, how heavy does the weight have to be and how do I use it to tone that area?

You can't "tone" specific areas of the body. You can lose overall bodyfat and increase muscle. It would be impossible to tell you exactly what to do unless we had more information on your current height, weight, bodyfat%, nutrition, etc.

Doing ab routines without weights will most definately "tone" up the muscles in that area, but in order to make them bigger, weights will need to be used. Just do standard crunches, leg raises, etc and watch your BF% and it'll be all good.

hey nicole

i think it varies from person to person. my old workout partner did the exact same ab workout as me but she never was able to have visable abs. her body fat was probably lower then mine too.

i'm sure people will laugh, but i have had a lot of success using the old school ab roller! i also do leg extentions, and hanging leg lifts from the pull-up bar. i have never used weights to get abs becuse i've always feared that they would get too bulky...(i know it's probably mental). i have a 4 pack now and would post a picture if i can figure out how.

oh another thing that really helped me was i started doing more core training a few years ago. i do almost every exercise on the bosu, and on one leg to stabilize my core. you end up focusing a lot on your abs too.

also as most people have already said, bodyfat percentage and diet play a big role as well.

hope that helps...
