Just an Introduction

Hi I am new to the board and just wanted to introduce myself

I guess I should tell you a bit about myself
Well.... I am 5'6" and am currently 150, I gained 10lbs over the X-mas Holidays. I am unsure what my bodyfat percentage is at this time but I am planning on posting some measurement right away. I am not new to the gym, however my problem is staying motivated for more then two weeks at a time.

I do not plan on doing any figure or bodybuilding competions at this point, but it is a long term goal.
I look forward to chatting with everyone, and hope I can get/give some great advise

Hey BetterMe, welcome aboard. Quick question, what leads to your loss of motivation - lack of results, soreness, injury, too much time spent in the gym?

Lots of helpful folks here that will try to help you stay motivated. It will be better if you and we know what gets in your way...perhaps there is a way around it.

I think my lack of motivation mostly comes from lack of results, or I just get sidetracked with school, stress, basically life I guess.

Thanks for the replies

Exercise can reduce that stress. Start by incorporating some aerobics in the morning before heading off to school.

Well, results come mostly from the things we put into our mouths. Take care of that first. I also reccomend for excellent results that you do a low volume plan like max ot (once you are in the habit of working out). That way you are in the gym and out pretty quick. Build muscle and burn fat pretty quickly. Visible results happen soon with that kind of plan. Plus it's challenging since you show up at the gym each day with a new goal and a plan to reach that goal.

Well I just registered for the Max OT plan. I guess I am suppose to be getting an e-mail in 24 hours. Thanks a lot for the link

I definatly think what I am putting in my mouth is probably most of the problem. I just have trouble being consistent, especially when stress kicks in. Is there any sample diet you guys know of??

Thats a good idea. This semester I have a few days where I don't start class till later in the morning, so I think that would work perfect. :

You'll have to make your own nutritional plan based on your needs. Sounds like you want to lose a little. Start by keeping track of everything you eat. Be honest with yourself - those little bites can sneak up on you.

Choose quality protein sources - don't be absolutely afraid of fat if you are wanting to cut a little. It keeps you more satisfied and can help you eat less.

Choose whole grains over bleached flour products. Even pasta can be found in whole grain carbohydrate controlled form. It's pretty good.

I personally cut out breads, pasta, rice, really starchy things like potatoes when I want to lose and choose just meats and green veggies. If you don't want to go that far just choose whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, small potatoes - baked not made into french fries.

Even fast food can be done right if it's all you have time for. Just last week I went to McDonald's and had grilled chicken breast on whole wheat. Added extra lettuce and tomato, skipped the cheese and mayo. Pretty good eating, pretty healthy, didn't get fat.
