Question

Legs twice a week???

I naturally have large legs for my body frame...I've posted a topic discussing my woes about them...so my question is ...SHould I lift with them twice a week or will this only perpetuate my problem? My schedule looks like this:

Monday: PM Lower Body
Tuesday: AM HIIT Cardio; PM Upper BOdy
Wednesday: AM HIIT Cardio
Thursday: AM HIIT Cardio; PM Lower BOdy
Friday; AM HIIT Cardio; PM Upper Body
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Rest

Your work out looks great to me.. I think it's ok to train legs as much as you want, as long as you are letting them recover inbetween work outs, and training different muscle groups in your legs to vary the sessions.
I wouldn't do the same exact leg work out 2x a week.. Sometimes I train my lower body 3x a week.. using different muscle groups, heavy or light weight intensity, weights or flexability training.., it all depends..
I have the same problem with my lower body too!! I hate my thighs!!

hope that helped ;-)

I wouldn't do HIIT Cardio on the same day as legs. Also, switch the order around and do cardio AFTER weight training. You need all the glycogen in those muscles to perform good lifting.

I lift legs twice a week. I haven't noticed a huge difference yet, but I'm still trying. I split up the different part of the legs btw the two days, doing half on Tues and the other on Fri. That way, I get a few days rest in there, too.

Great advice guys! LADY C: thanks for the advice about the HIIT on leg day thing....I wondered about that but didn't think to ask; also, (just to pick your brain a little) I do my cardio at 6:30 am and lift at about 12:30 pm; should I still switch it around? I might try your idea Zephyr

If they are separated by 8 hours it shouldn't matter. I personally think if you can go back to the gym in 4 hours and work out again you didn't work hard enough in the first session. I can barely walk after leg days. No way I would be able to do cardio too.

You know that could be my problem...not working my legs hard enough. I try to limit my reps to 8-10 or 10-12 depending on how heavy the weight. When they say to rep to failure at 8 or 10 does this mean grit-your-teeth-I-don't-think-I-can-do-it kind of lifting or is it more boy-this-burns-but-at-least-I-can-still-breath kind of lifting because I my lifelong dream is to have just taut, see-all-my-pretty-girly-muscle kind of legs...I realize that they'll NEVER be thin so I'm willing to go with what I've got and lean more toward that soccer chic gams....You're input?

Because I'm old and the muscles take time to warm up I do several warm-up sets. After that I do only 3-4 working sets usually between 6-10 reps each. I would say it is grit-your-teeth and the legs shake, 'can I make this last rep' kind of thing. I can squat my body weight now. I sometimes switch it up and lower the weight some and try to do 15 reps this is more of a boy-this-burns kind.

Women will never be the Heman kind of muscle without using drugs, so I just concentrate on gaining more muscles. More muscle, higher metabolism.
