Lower Back Exercises?

Hi

I've been working on my glutes and legs. my legs and butt have built some mass but I'm wondering how I can work on the lower back right above the butt. The thing is I'm Asian and Asians aren't very blessed with a shapely behind, and I'm trying to create that 'shelf' look- so that my butt will jut out more where the lower back meets it.

please let me know if this is possible.

thank you very much!

Deadlifts, they'll also work your legs and glutes too.

I'm not too sure working your back will create a "shelf". Actually, I'm not too sure exactly how to create a shelf in the first place. But I second deadlifts. I saw results when I first incorporated them.

Hi guys
Thanks for all your responses. Right now I'm doing lunges with 20 pounds, 5 opunds free weights for my arms, the hydrant(on all fours lifting one leg up), and I also use the soloflex for the back of my legs and arms. I'm a really slender person so I'm not doing anything to difficult right now.

I'm new at working out so I'm sorry for not knowing the correct terms.

How many reps are you doing with the 20 lb lunges? the glutes are a tough muscle and you have to work them pretty hard to get results. Even thoughy our Asian you can increase their size.
