Measuring how much you lift?

When you do squats, bench presses, or any exercise that involves the bar, do you include the bar's weight in your logs or not?

In otherwords, the bar weighs about 45 pounds. So, if I put 45 pound weights on each side I would note that as 135 pounds NOT as 90 pounds. And you?

Also, when using barbells, for example, for curls, I would total the weight in my notes. So, if I'm curling a 25 pound weight in each hand I call that 50 pounds, NOT 25. And you?

Yes, add the barbell weight to your total.

With DBs, its your call......all the same in the end.

i include the bar weight for barbells, but tally dumbbells individually - ie, a 25lb DB in each hand is still only 25lbs because it's 25 per side.

If you lift it, count it. Don't cheat yourself out of that 45 pounds.

The only thing I don't count is the Hack machine or the leg press weight. We have 2 smiths with bars of different weight and the barbell is even more than that. If you use the same bar every time and just want to monitor progress (I added 25# to my bench...) then it is up to you.
