Mysterious cellulite Problem? Am I Alone?

I've been working out hard for the past three months and have definitely built up the muscles in my legs and my abs are clearly visible and my shoulders are finally capping off; HOWEVER, my legs are still completely covered by this sheet of fat and cellulite that runs the entire length of my legs. It's embarrassing and is keeping me from wearing shorts in this Louisiana humid heat....I'm miserable! My diet is lean protein, moderate low glycemic carbs, but I plan on adding more veggies...I eat every three hours of small balanced meals containing one protein, one carb and sometimes a piece of fruit....I just really want to know if I'm the only one with this problem because EVERYBODY even overweight girls seem to NOT have this problem here in Baton ROuge.

Hun, I'll tell ya, I've had a problem with saddlebags ever since I was 14, and it doesn't seem to matter HOW much weight I lose or how heavy my squats get, I can't seem to lose them.

Maybe someone here will have some advice for ya, and if they do, send them my way!!

I hear ya. I've been working out for the past 12 years, and in recent years have become very serious about it. I am in the gym 5 days a week at 5:00 a.m. I hit cardio hard and then lift. My body fat is 18.5% and I am fairly lean and buff. But I just can't seem to get rid of that darn cellulite on the sides of my hips and fronts of my thighs. I even had lipo back in 1999 and that didn't even do it. I hear there is a new procedure called mesotherapy where they inject solution into the skin and it breaks up the fat, but it's extremely expensive and not yet FDA-approved. It's like I also have extra hanging skin on the front of my thighs, with unsightly dimpling in certain areas. It's ultra embarrasing and I never wear skirts or shorts. I work so hard and can't even be comfortable showing it off. The only thing that makes me feel better is that my boyfriend hardly even notices it. I think we are the most hard on ourselves, and this may be something that seems more obvious to you than anyone else. But it's an awful feeling. I look around at other women in shorts who are heavier and not in shape like me, who don't have the problem that I have. Let me know if any miracles come your way. Just wanted you to know that you're not alone.

You should reverse that order - lift then cardio. You will get more from the weight session and have low enough glycogen to perform cardio in the depleted state to help burn fats.

Cellulite is mostly genetic and it is not limited to females. Males tend to store less fats in the hips and thighs so it is not as noticable.

I have cellulite on my inner thighs as well, it comes and goes depending on the diet and my workout. It doesn't bother me really, my boyfriend doesn't notice either. (he didn't notice when I gained 20lbs either though lol)

I'm seriously considering the lipo option. The only think that's holding me back right now is $$.

From someone who has had it done, please understand that lipo is NOT a solution for cellulite. There is NO known surgery today that is solely for cellulite. Lipo is to rid of fat underneath the muscle to decrease your size, not to smooth the surface of the skin above the muscle. In fact, if you gain weight in certain places after you have it, it can make the cellulite appear worse. If you are interested, go to a board-certified specialist and have a consultation. I am not unhappy I had it done because I am smaller now, but as for the cellulite, I think that is just something that was going to happen, no matter what. I wish there was something out there for it, though, as I would be first in line! I am still tempted to try the mesotherapy but it's super-expensive and not FDA-approved.

Well, you've only been doing it for three months,
it's not long enough for miracles to happen.
if you keep up with it, the cellulite should disappear,
or at least get reduced as your overall bodyfat goes down.

Actually, I'm not doing it for the cellulite (I'm ready to live with it), I'm doing it for size. I carry a disproprotionate amount of fat in the outer thighs. It doesn't seem to matter how much weight I lose, it still hangs on.

I think LIPO is fine...as long as you go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in it.. and can show you many before and after pics, and let you talk to his patients who've had it done recently. If you're looking to imnprove your size, then I really think Lipo is a viable option. It can help cellulite or make it worse, I've heard of both..
Feel free to PM me if you need any more info about Lipo or want a good reccomendation for a Surgeon.

I find a combination of sticking to a good routine of working out and eating right, plus some surgery if that is what you want is great!

Best ;-) FemCat
