I don't know if I agree with one point of advice they give in this article:
http://female.bodybuildbid.com/training/loseinch.html

They say that you shouldn't eat anything before your workout. Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but if I *don't* eat anything about an hour before my workout, then I have only helluva lousy time because I have no energy!

I beleive that they are referencing cardio training only in that statement (#3 in this link)

I find even for cardio I have to have eaten something. If I eat within 45 min of my cardio I'll cramp up...but if I have absolutely nothing in my stomach my cardio also suffers. Even just a banana about an hour before makes a difference to me.

But everyone's workout is different.

Also, a question about #4 from that article....is that true, Lady C?

4. Eat about an hour after a workout. This allows your fat burning to continue until you eat. Don't wait much longer than that though, as you need food to recover. Stick to protein and low fat foods.
I know people like Bill Phillips (Body-for-life) still swears by this. Others don't. I think it will depend on each person and how they react from it. I can't wait that long, my glycogen is so low I usually am shaking right after I cool down.

I know I'm not in any way a fitness expert at all, but I swear by it as well....I have tried both exercising after or before eating the same exact foods, and amount of calories (both for about a month) I got smaller by exercising on an empty stomach, and now if I think about eating or eat right before a workout it kind of makes me feel a lil sick.

But if I exercise on an empty stomach and then wait another hour after exercise before eating, that makes at least 2 hours between getting up and having breakfast... that's nonoptimal for someone with low blood sugar.

Keep your body in balance. Feed the activity ... control the amount and type of food.

There is no possible way I can workout be it cardio or weights without eating. It makes me very sick and I get shaky. Gotta have the fuel.

"The primary factor influencing whether an exercise builds muscle or not is the rep range that you use. Losing fat depends heavily on nutrition. If you want to get stronger without gaining much muscle mass, then use a range between 1 to 3 reps where you reach muscular failure in that range. Alternatively, if you use a rep range of 15 or more reps per set, you will build muscular endurance and very little muscle mass."

So which are they promoting? lower rep range or higher reps?
