No period :(

I have been eating 1800-2000 calories for around 3 or 4 months now.. and my period hasn't come back yet.. probably due to low body fat maybe? I hope this site is not accurate.... because according to http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies/pi.shtml, the site saids:

Estimate #1 based on height and weight (5'7 110 pounds)
Your "Ponderal Index" is 13.98 which gives an estimated body fat of -6.3% (-7.0 pounds of fat)

Estimate #2 based on waist size and weight (25 in)
Estimated body fat of -1.5% (-1.6 pounds of fat)

How many gram of fat should I be eating to get to a healthy weight? I currently eat around 40g.. is that too little? I'm really worried about my health

I don't do much cardio.. only 2 times a week for 20-30 minutes at a moderate pace... weight train 3 times a week. Is 1800cal-2000 cal not enough for me?!?! Im feel so full all the time I don't think i can eat more.. should I just up the fat intake?!?! Oh and my doctor did some test on me and said the results were all normal... and then just told me to gain some weight.

I went to an obegyne and found out that i have multiple cyts in both of my ovaries.

Seems like that's enough especially if you're full and can't eat any more. Your period hasn't come back? Since when? When did it stop to begin with I guess is what I'm asking?

Did you ever read The Schwarzbien Principle by Diana Schwarzbien? It describes a healthy way of eating that gives your body the fuel to heal itself.
According to that book you should have a little bit of fat with every meal, not any fat, but good clean fat, like olive oil, the fat in nuts, etc.

Check it out!

Do you run? and what is your bf%. Women who go to low in bf% ( usually competitors ) will miss their periods. Also runners although usually marathon runners will miss their period as well. If you have ruled out all the obvious things like preganancy/birth control etc and you are not a HEAVY lifter then I would check with my doctor.

ok i will check into that "Schwarzbien Principle" book. I'm not sure if my body fat is low.. but I will be sure to get it tested. Well my period has been gone for almost 2 years now I took some pills around 4 or 5 months ago and it came back... but now is gone again.. Im guessing is because I did too much cardio when I was younger? (I lost around 7 pounds when I was 14 or 15).. I'm 17 now. I didn't think 6 or 7 pounds would take a toll on my health.. all I did was cardio every other day for around 30 minutes. I still ate regularly.. just ditch the chips/soda/candy. I still ate fast food, and pizza, etc. but I guess stress has something to do with it too. I now eat 1800-2000 calories of clean food everyday.. and only do 2x cardio a week of 20 minutes. 3x weight trainning of 45min-1hr. I have been doing this for almost 4 months now. I hope my period will be back soon. I don't wanna go on those birth control pills again to make it come back. I want it to come back natually.

oh and I did went to my doctor.. They did some test on me and everything was normal. She just told me to gain weight.

I had cyts in my right overy, but it didn't cause any stop to my period (I was just going into pre-shock every other month). Did they put you on birth control, too?

Hope you will Kitty.
It's really about healing your metabolism and how everything in the body is interconnected. My friend's dad, after following the plan for some time, was able to throw away his heart pills after taking them for thirty years. He was also able to get rid of his knee wraps and, if you can believe this, is no longer walking with a cane either.....
This may not sound like anything to do with not having your period, but if you read the book you will see what I'm talking about!
So, maybe you want to check this website about where to get the book, there's also a forum for discussing the Schwarzbien Priniciple on there if you surf around the site a little. (Actually someone from THIS site told me about it)
There may be other women on that board who are dealing/have dealt with exactly the same thing.
www.lowcarber.org
(It's not really a low carb way of eating - don't worry!)
Hope it helps.....

Being 17 and not having your period for two years sounds like an issue. Unless you are like at 7% bf or lower I do not see that your bf would have anything to do with it.

What kinds of tests done to you? LH,fsh, prl, insulin, estrogen?
Have u gone thru ultrasound?

And i do weight train 3x/week. plus 2 days cardio same as you

I dont know what kinda tests they were... but both involved taking a blood sample. Also.. I've been doing some research and found out that ginger tea can help menstrual problems.. and might induce a period.

I will try my best to relax.. summer's here and skool's out! I will eat more, worry less, and drink my tea Hopefully my period will come back natually.. best of luck to you too

It's a bad thing because it can be bad for your body, and some girls feel "off" when they don't get theirs even if it's from birth control.
