not losing the weight
Hi again everyone. Ive been working out pretty hard for the past few months. I am 5-5, 130 pounds and 16% bf. I still feel that i have some weight to lose, but can't seem to lose anymore. I would like to get down to 120 pounds. I talked to a body building coach at a health fair i had to go to, and she told me to eat more calories, and put on healthy fat to fill out my butt and hips. My reaction was that i dont work out hard to add fat, when my goal is to lose fat. I also binge eat pretty bad, so i have a feeling i am getting enough calories, although it may not be the best kind.
so i guess what i am getting at, is how to lower my bf, and lose a bit of weight, and stop binge eating. I am getting so frustrated? I am also curious if I am binge eating because my bf% is a little low. I am on the pill because i was ammenhoreic (however you spell that). I dont know if the pill is making me eat so much, i dont remember having the problem so much in the past.
sorry for making it so long, and thanks for your help!!

Women typically have to have body fat levels around 14% or below to see their abs. At 5'-5" and 130lbs I doubt that you need to lose more weight. Concentrate on eating healthy and keep working out and you will eventually get there.
Binge eating is usually controlled mentally. Do you know why you are binge eating? Are you nervous, bored, scared, lonely? Find out what triggers is and deal with those emotions separately without food.
The pill does make some people retain some water weight ~5lbs. It does not make you binge eat. Although, cravings can sometimes be triggered by harmone levels.

120lbs at 5-5 is, imo, not reasonable unless you have a *really* petite frame. i'm 5-2 and look my best at 125, even though i'm supposedly only supposed to weigh 100 - 115 (at which, i should mention, i look *disgusting*; insectoid, even).
don't hate fat - fat is not your enemy. *excess* fat is, though. fat is what makes gives us our feminine curves so we don't look like men. fat helps absorb certain critical vitamins (A, E, D, and K) and helps keep hormone levels stable (estrogen is stored in fat reserves, which is why men with too much fat start to gain feminine attributes, and too little bodyfat will stop menstruation entirely - ammenorrhea). it prevents the sun from burning our internal organs and keeps our joints lubricated and working smoothly.
likely, the reason you're stuck where you're at is because going lower is NOT healthy for your particular body.
and what, exactly, do you call "bingeing"? i've heard someone call a tuna sandwich and two apples a binge. likely, you are being driven to eat more because, quite simply, you're not eating enough. bingeing does *not* replace a steady supply of healthy calories. start eating reasonably - six times a day, 250 - 300 per meal, and you'll find your bingeing will probably stop, your fitness goals will be more easily obtained, and you'll just feel a lot better. drink 2l of water minimum throughout the day to keep water bloatage down.

I really don't see how you could need to lose weight being only 130lbs and 16% fat. I'm 5'3 150lbs and don't need to lose to much weight. Maybe a few lbs, but not a lot at all! Binge eating is really bad for you! It's much better to eat the same amount of food over the course of the day!

No, I lift 3 days a week, and try and do at least 30 mins of cardio 3 days a week. Some weeks i can squeeze in 2 workouts a day and get a few extra days of lifting in, but that hasnt been happening lately.

I'm glad you saw right through that one ... LOL. While there are healthy dietary fats, fill-out butt fat just doesn't qualify!
You say that at times you binge eat. How often is that? Typically if you're eating several smaller meals a day, you can avoid that urge to carb-splurge. On what schedule do you eat? Do you have rules in place?

I tend to binge eat at night, or after a meal. I try to plan out meals and follow them, but once i start eating i have a hard time stopping. Even if i have no junk food around, i will still binge eat what i do have around.

Sorry, but since I simply don't understand binge eating, I can't offer advice except to say, "don't do it." <shrug>

What are you doing when you are eating like this? Are you at the kitchen table? Sitting in front of the TV or computer? Hanging out with friends and food? Cleaning up after dinner?
Get what I'm after here? What ever routine you have gotten yourself into then change it ! If you are at home alone, then make an effort to get out of the house in the evenings and away from the food. If you are with friends who socialize over snacks then limit your time with them.
Is there anything you like just love to do so much that you lose track of time when you are doing it? Find your passion, one that doesn't involve food.
YOu really need to remove yourself from this routine. If you are emotional eating you need to either abandon your problems or get to work solving them. No one is going to do that stuff for you. Remember only you are in control here. We are just your cyber-support.We want you to succeed at this so make us proud!
