Running stadium stairs
Anyone does this? How effective is it on your calves?

It's great exercise! Run up, walk down.

I do it and I love it. Amazing workout. I feel most sore in my hip flexors the next day, although it is good endurance work for calves and quads, too.

Dont stairs tighten & tone your butt & leggs as well? I have been doing them for those purposes.

I use the stairmaster everyday and everything is toned/tightened but my CALVES. They are the only muscle on my body that REFUSES to grow!! I need something hardcore . .

Have you tried doing the stairmaster more on your toes? I find that I can feel it in my calves that way. Or walking/running up a steep hill.

Running stairs will work your whole body.
If you want to focus on your calves, try holding a dumbbell in each hand (fairly heavy), then climb the stairs at a walking pace. Keep the load on the balls of your feet (no heels).

Anna - I have tiny l'il calves too. Could be genetics? I simply can't get any growth outta mine either, but they're tight and strong as hell. *shrug*

Did it in baseball all the time, and then in conditioning too.

We did it for our kinesiology conditioning class and then I did it on my own. It works well but it sucks while you're doing it.
