When doing squats with DBs (no Barbell available) do you place them up on your shoulders (obviously holding them there) or do you hold them in your hands with your arms straight down at your sides?

a thought about DB squats as opposed to BB squats: wouldn't doing very heavy DB squats be more beneficial in working the upper body (ie, grip, arms, shoulders, and traps in particular?). if one is seeking to develop upper body and grip strength, would it be overkill to switch to DB squats?

Cursor, I saw that and that's how I do them. But a friend of mine holds them up on her shoulders (I guess to simulate barbell action). So I was just curious how many people did that.

Like above. I can't get 40s on my shoulders ('cause I can't curl 40s yet) Watch your form, DBs tend to make you lean more forward.
I can't do more than about 6-8 reps with 40s in each hand. I can't hold them longer than that. If no BB is available then work on doing more sets of low reps if you can't hold them.
