I heard this story on the radio this morning.

Unfortunately in the model world, thin has been better for quite some time. Only after a Brazilian model's death are they finally realizing the danger models put themselves in trying to be what they're brainwashed to be.

I prefer a little meat to a woman's bones myself. Women need to be filled out, just not fat. Good muscle tone and looking healthy, I think, is much sexier than what you see in that pic.

Are you implying that you find that woman in the picture even remotely sexy ?
If I saw her in real life, my first thought would be to call an ambulance or the police.

Obviously I don't think she is sexy. She does not have any muscle tone because she has no muscle. She doesn't look healthy either.

she looks scary, however the article says she is a size zero which i don't believe. she's got to be a size negative zero! her arms look like twigs too.

oh she looks horrible.

even a bmi of 18 is too low. Mines 19 and im quite skinny like.

I remember reading about various celebrities having bmi of 15 or something - im guessing that girl isnt far off there. It's quite sad really, and this is what is held up to women as some kind of ideal? No wonder there are so many young girls obsessed with their weight.

oh and gymgirl : she may be a size zero. A size zero on a 6ft tall lady is v different to how it looks on a girl of our height

That's wonderful that they are trying to clean up the catwalks. : Now when are they going to do the same for adolescent female competitive gymnists?

good point. i was going to say we do not look like that! i forgot they are like 6 feet tall, and we are shorties. quite a difference. hopefully banning these sickly models will help set a better example for young women.

At least those girls are fit. If they get too thin, their performance suffers, so they can't get TOO emaciated.

Oh, I thought this post was referring to how terrible it is that we allow women to sacrifice their health. I've heard about and seen the pressure put on impressionalbe children to stunt their natural growth through puberty and adulthood for the sake of competition. Being fit is not healthy especially when you consider mental health. Being bulimic and anorexic and self-depreciating about weight gain is not equivilent to being fit!

I am disappointed that there exists a double standard and elitism over who can and cannot starve themselves (dancers and models are lessor than tiny gymnasts). It's OK to starve for athletics but not for looks!

Many of those models are more fit than their wannabe audience. It's their job to look like that.

I like thick girls. Not mama cass kind of thick, but at least a little something to hold on to. Please don't starve your women. That just looks nasty.
