What are your lifting goals?

I'm still working on trying to do a pull up and benching my own weight.

Amy, I have those goals as well, to do a chin up and bench my own weight. Along with that I want to run a marathon (not lifting I know, what can I say I'm obsessed) I'd like to be able to squat 160lbs by the end of July. (at 145 right now)

Just to get my squat up to where it should be. I don't think I could add more any more on my bench.

Once baseball seaon ends, I'll have 3 goals. 10-12% at 210 lbs, a 240 lb clean and jerk, and a 180 lb snatch. All by the beginning of August or so.

Hi Amanda! Long time no - (see?) - (hear?)
So good to hear you're still working on the running. How is it going anyway?Haven't had a chance to check out your journal lately and fixing to get ready for church hear in a second so....I'll check it out soon.....
Good news, my knee is doing better, I haven't completely destroyed it and am going to be running, but have to break into it VERY slowly - we're talking slug speed here! hehehe

Heh, thanks Amy I hope so, college is next year! The clean and jerk and snatch are both olympic lifts. I have some vids of some snatches on FortifiedIron (the upload kb limit here is too small). But you can watch the vids to see what a snatch is.

The snatch is where you start with the barbell on the ground, hands in a wide grip (mine almost touch the collars). You lift it off the ground, then aggresivly pull it overhead while squatting under it (like an overhead squat, if you've heard of that). Then, you stand up with the bar extended over your head.

The clean and jerk is a two part lift. You start with the barbell on the ground and your hands about shoulder length apart. You pull it off the ground then squat under it (like a front squat). Then you stand up with it. Once you are stood up, the bar is resting on your clavicles. You dip, then jump it up off your body while squatting under it (like a lunge, but with the bar above your head), then you stand up with the bar so that it is extended above your head.
