What do you think about this for weight training?

I really like the shape pilates gives me...however I want a slightly more defined look. When I weight train my muscles have a different look to them, as opposed to the pilates look.
I have been doing pilates for while now and I am using the most advanced tape of the series I use. I was thinking about buying ankle and wrist weights, so that I can add resistance to my workout...but sticking with pilates. Can this count as Weight training?
Thanks!

Resistance bands work really well for adding intensity to pilates..I dunno about the ankle/wrist weights alotta the moves I do I wouldn't want all that weight at the end of a limb it seems it would be hard on the joints.

imho pilates don't are good for flexibility and agility, but not so great if you are trying to get a hard body. I think good old fashioned iron pumping is better for that.

I agree with Silly - they won't add muscle mass.

I think you should choose what you want as a result and do the training as outlined. If you have moved past the advanced tapes maybe it is time for something new. I do know that the pilates theory describes the exercises as being more beneficial the longer you do them. This assumes that you get stronger and are able to recruit new stabilisers etc as you perfect your execution of the exercises. Essentially you don't grow out of them. Although there is a component of strength training using body weight, the method is not designed to do what working out with barbells dumbells and machines can do.

If you are looking for higher intensity weight training consider a different program on different days.
