Whoah!

We were playing with our new power rack the other night... TMOTH finishes a 20-rep squat set at 70 lbs, spends a few minutes relearning how to breathe and stand, then loads up 150 for calf raises and does those... and then, because now we have the rack, tries squatting that just for giggles. And reps it ten times.

Great job! Amazing the things we can accomplish when the fear factor is removed. Cages make great spotters, hope you have many long years of using yours.

TMOTH is my abbreviation for The Man of the House, which is a joking way of referring to my longtime boyfriend, whom I dragged into this workout stuff with me when I started.

A power rack is basically a big cage with adjustable crossbars and pins in it for a loaded barbell to be caught by should you fail and collapse during an exercise like a squat; it also allows you to load the bar at a height where you can get under it and lift it off with your shoulders. Basically it lets you squat without fear of being crushed if you can't get the last rep out, and using more weight than you could clean and press onto your shoulders with your upper body strength alone.

HMMMMM! O.k sounds like a pretty cool thing!
Squats is one thing i havent done yet! I will soon as I loose the excess fat LOL! You know when i worked at a grocery store ( At 16) there used to be this regular that came into the deli ( where i worked) and she worked out obviously and the one thing I noticed is her thighs. They were huge but not too huge but everytime she walked you could just see every muscle! not that any of this matters to you LOL but that is my goal is to get my thighs like that! I know squats are pretty important in that area!
I cant wait to start a gym!

Cool

Yeah I once got stuck being dumb lifting without a spotter and I got cought under a bar. I thought "It's lighter then I use with a spotter so I could handle it" Nope!! The next day I went out and picked up a spotterless bench. I can bench and squat alone and I have no fear of being stuck again!! YEAH!!!
