Workout accessories
Got a quick question for you ladies. Does bring an ipod and a cell phone (in their matching Luis Vuiton cases, no less) help you lift?
I see this about 5 times daily, and I was just wondering if there is some sort of reasoning behind this. Personaly, I love it when I'm doing heavy squats and I hear a phone ringing.

I love to listen to my iPod while I lift because I hate the music they play at my gym. I never bring my phone though. Gym time is my time. People can leave voicemail.

No, not me. The guys are the worst at my gym for being plugged in to their players and mindlessly hogging the equipment, ignoring those who are trying to ask them how many sets left or even if they are working out to begin with.
Then there are the guys who speak so loudly into their cell phones that you know which pub they are headed to and who is the dork that won't be invited tonight.

LV cellphone cases? LOL!!! No way I'd bring a cell phone. An ipod strapped to my arm for background noise is motivation for me though, but more for when I run.

Cell phones aren't allowed up on the conditioning floor at the Y, but that doesn't stop people from bringing them.
I bring my iPod, but that's because I can't stand listening to EasyRock while I'm trying to pump weights.

I really hate people that bring cell phones and set them on the ground, don't complain if I drop a 100 lb wieght on it, better than twisting MY ankle b/c YOU think you're that important.

I'm one of those guys listening to music (no phone, though). It really locks me in. I do try to be aware, though, and I take out my ear plugs if someone looks like they are waiting to use whatever weights/equipment I'm on.

Ugh
There was a cardio girl at my gym for a while who would run and talk. How is that effective? I am sorry, but nobody is truely that busy. Come on.

Actually running and talking is good! It's great for establishing your correct workout pace.

I always say if you can talk, you aren't working hard enough.
Probably just becuase when I walk, I walk FAST. When I run, It's pretty darn slow but takes all my breath away. When people try to join in with me - they always want to jabberjaw all the way and I like to concentrate on what I'm doing - not socialize. So I just step up the pace so that they can't talk - or if running so that I can't talk - then I don't have to be bothered with it.
But that may just be because I'm an unsociable prick - or that's what everyone always tells me.

Not at our gym, no rules but they are all hardcore, only a few have music. HOw can you lift hard with wires and crap hanging all over, and talk on a phone all sweaty and out of breath from lifting 10000 lbs!!!
But how about those who wear perfume????? that annoys me much worse or if they spray cleaner for the equipment and use a ton - those smells are so hard on asthmatics..............like me! NExt thing you know a waft of perfume chokes you to the point you have to leave??
Actually the owners are good about it and would say something to that effect and as long as your cell or ipod is not putting you or anyone else in danger they would not say much.........
