1 rep max needs help

in school (where i usually lift) I rep a 220 work out on bench and i can't even get 200 (which is my 90%). What should i do? (my squat is mediocre also)
Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I'm having a hard time understanding your question. Are you saying that you can rep 220 lbs. on the bench press but when you have to perform a one rep max that you can't get 200 lbs?

Please clarify your question.

I'm a bodyweight-only fitness dude. So I'm hoping someone else will jump in here and answer your question.

If I had to guess, I'd think he's under a workout plan that has him do a certain amount of reps of 90% of this one rep max, and he can't finish those reps.

sorry about the confusion. when I workout: for example, 4 sets of 5 reps, we lift weight for all the sets at 80% of our one rep max. so, for that workout i base my 80% on 220 (170-175) while my real max is not even 200 (which that 80% is 160, and that's real easy). so what should i do to make my max increase?

When was the last time you went for a 1 rm and how did you go for it? If you are going for a 1rm after your workout you aren't fresh. If you can get 5 with 175 I'm sure you can do more than 200. If you don't think you can lift the weight you won't, it could be a mental block.
