900 kg leg press for one rep

You guys are missing out on the apple cider vinegar in your PWO shakes

-------------------------------

U.S. televangelist's claim he leg-pressed more than 900 kilos amuses experts

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said he has leg-pressed more than 900 kilograqms but some said he'd be in a pretty tough spot if he tried.

The 700 Club host's feat of strength is recounted on the website of his Christian Broadcasting Network, in a posting headlined: "How Pat Robertson Leg Pressed 2,000 Pounds."
The CBN website said Robertson worked his way up to lifting a almost a tonne with the help of his physician, who is not named. The posting does not say when the lift occurred but a CBN spokeswoman released photos she said showed Robertson lifting 907 kilograms in 2003, when Robertson was 73. He is now 76.
The Web posting said two men loaded the leg-press machine with 907 kilograms "and then let it down on Mr. Robertson, who pushed it up one rep and let it go back down again."
The website said several people witnessed the event and shows video of Robertson leg-pressing what appears to be 454 kilograms.
Clay Travis of CBS SportsLine.com called the 907-kilo assertion impossible in a column this week, writing the leg-press record for football players at Florida State University is 302 kilos less.
"Where in the world did Robertson even find a machine that could hold 2,000 pounds at one time?" Travis asked.
Andy Zucker, a strength-training coach at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., said leg-presses of more than 450 kilos represent "a Herculean effort and 2,000 pounds is a whole other story."
"If he was able to lift that much weight, I take my hat off to him but the numbers suggest that people who lift that much weight are few and far between," Zucker said.
"One would have to see what type of leg-press it was on and under what parameters it was done."
CBN spokeswoman Angell Vasko said Friday that Robertson was not available for comment because he was "out of pocket" for the weekend.
Vasko said she has not seen Robertson leg-press 907 kilos but it's not "a huge shocker" that he could.
"Pat is so healthy," she said.
"This is something he trained for over an extended period of time. He lives a very healthy, regimented life."
One of the photos Vasko released had a digital date stamp of 1994, although she said Robertson performed the leg-press in 2003. Vasko said perhaps the date was not set properly on the camera.
The CBN website attributes Robertson's energy in part to "his age-defying protein shake." The site offers a recipe for the shake, which contains ingredients such as soy protein isolate, whey protein isolate, flaxseed oil and apple cider vinegar.

lol, thats hardly "age-defying," it's not even optimal
1) cut out the soy
2) replace flaxseed with fish oil
3) no carbs (which the vinegar will help in uptake)

friggin media

Powerlifters squatting 800-1200 should be able to leg press anywhere from 1200-1600 lbs or more maybe lol...i do know of a few guys that leg press in the 1000s for reps in their training. Dunno if i know anyone who leg presses 2000 lol. Although, a guy by the name of Jeff Lewis, the 1212 record squatter, maybe he could take a stab at it...

I hear your squat (raw) should be about half waht you can leg press...

HEALTH

How Pat Robertson Leg Pressed 2,000 Pounds

Pat Robertson worked out at the gym on an incline leg press machine with weights up to 570 pounds. Working with his physician, who was an amazing strength trainer, he worked up to 800 pounds, then 1,000 pounds. Then one day he was able to leg press 1,500 pounds one time. Then over the succeeding months, he trained with multiple reps of 1,200 pounds, 1,300 pounds, and 1,400 pounds.
One Saturday morning, his physician said, “I’ll get you bragging rights. Let’s go to 2,000 pounds.” Then he worked up multiple reps of 1,400 pounds, 1,500 pounds, 1,600 pounds, 1,700, pounds, 1,800 pounds and 1,900 pounds. When 2,000 pounds was put on the machine two men got on either side and helped push the load up, and then let it down on Mr. Robertson, who pushed it up one rep and let it go back down again.
Mr. Robertson warms up now at 500 pounds, and was shown on television with Kristi Watts doing 1000 pounds.
His doctor, by the way, has leg pressed 2,700 pounds. It is not nearly as hard as the authors of these reports make it out to be. We have multiple witnesses to the 2,000 pound leg press, plus video of the 10 reps of 1,000 pounds.

Pat Robertson isn't the only one doing lots of weight using a half a**ed ROM, trust me. I work out at a Gold's; I see it all the time. Well, not 2,000 lbs, but really loading it up and only going halfway.

yeah it actually helps if u do half way to get rid of your stick points sometimes but its nothing to brag about as your leg press weight. I really have stopped looking at peoples workouts and just looking at their results.

not going full range of motion is increasing risk of injury, and limiting your results
