a question on deadlifts

I am doing deadlifts but whey do bodybuilders grab the bar with one hand facing the body and the other on away from the body?

and do i have to change my grip for every set?

thank you all!

Doing so eliminates the tendancy for the bar to roll out of your grip. If you do it that way then yes, change up each set. It isn't just bodybuilders who do it that way, it is a very effective method for holding on to a LOT of weight. Anyone should be able to grip more via alternating grip as opposed to double overhand.

I personally hate it -- I feel like there's a force torquing my entire torso (like, a spine-ribs-muscles-twisting one) when I use a mixed grip. I'm sticking to double overhand for now, and doing all right. Honestly, if my grip is not failing on a 1RM, I don't mind having to use straps for higher-rep sets.
