Ammonia Capsules?

What are ammonia capsules used for? I'm a high school lifter, and I'm gettin' ready for a possible shot at winning state in powerlifting this year, and am looking for every legal advantage I can get...so could someone let me know about these....thanks

They are a way to shock your system in to an extreme stage of alertness, it'll help you focus on the lift basically. Inzer also makes a product called Nose Tork, same idea.

It seems that you could use a small bottle of ammonia with a resealable cap if you cannot find the ammonia capsules.

The bottle of ammonia (1qt.) would last a long time and costs about $1 and is easy to find in any grocery store.

You could make a nearly spill proof bottle easily.

If you use silica gel for anything else (such as the cat litter crystals or desiccant for keepin stuff dry), soak it in the ammonia solution.
Put the silica gel in a smaller bottle, such as an empty bottle of ibuprofen (you should eventually have one of these around).
Put a cotton ball on top of the silica gel.
Reseal with the bottle's cap.
This way, the bottle does not have to have a liquid tight seal.

When needed, add a wee bit more ammonia water to the silica gel.

I have heard about this before, is there any danger to it though? I never really had this answered before.

Yes i know, also with common sense that you don't sniff chemicals; however, i know lots of powerlifters do this to get in the zone and so im just wondering if there is any reason that it would be harmful.

Occasion acute use should not be harmful.

Huffing ammonia deliberately or unintentionally for a prolonged period with an excessive concentration certainly would be harmful.

Those ammonia capsules have legitimate medical uses that are being leveraged for a sporting application.

I will check with the Physician's Desk Reference and Merck Manual to learn more and post what I find tomorrow.
