I found my area's winners at their last meet (April). They have two classes
182 lbs and 198 lbs. I weigh 195 so does that put me in the 182 class? Either way heres the winners and what I'm up against.
(Damn metric conversion)
182lbs D/L: 407 lbs Bench: 220 lbs Squat: 357 lbs
198 lbs D/L: 440 lbs Bench: 302 lbs Squat: 385 lbs
Me:195 lbs D/L: 370 lbs Bench: 220 lbs Squat: 300 lbs
More questions too:
Squat Suit: I take it this is not a diaper. Afore mentioned should point out I do not own one.
A) Should I?
B) Whats it for
Extrapolating on that. I don't lift with a belt, gloves or chalk. Again should I be?
Replying to my own thread, what a nimrod...

What federation is it? They're all slightly different.
The weight classes (in lbs) usually go like this for men:
165
198
220
242
275
308
Super heavy weight (309+)
If you are 185 youll be in the higher division not the lower. But you can always dehydrate yourself to weigh in at a lower class.
The lifts you mentioned look like raw lifts. Those aren't impressive really. It must be a very small meet organization.
You dont necessarily need to win it to have a good time man. I"m going to be doing one soon in which i have no chance in winning. The deadlift state record for the meet ill be in if i were to be in the 308s right now would be 660. Do it for the experience, get stronger, and eventually you'll be contending.
If you dont use straps and no chalk then that's fine but the chalk will help out. If you want to compete and you're using straps for deadlifting then stop it. Might be safe to use a belt on max lifts for squats/deads just to keep your lower back safe. Equipment is a whole new game. I think when i compete itll be with a
bench shirt but the squat and deadlift will be done raw.
