I pause for 1-2 seconds on the bottom and do the next rep.

Unlike squats & bench press where there's an eccentric part to the movement before performing the "main phase", conventional deadlift is single phase thus you shouldn't be overly concerned about lowering the bar "gently" to the floor to perform the next rep ("drop lower" it in a controlled fashion).

Train DL as singles to ensure that your grip, position & technique are maintained during the set. I always take 5-10 seconds between reps so that my form doesn't deteriorate during the set.
