Just to re-emphasise if sldl are hitting traps and shoulders no way is it sl. Most likely a haphazard in between of conventional and sl.

I think it shows the emphasis is on form not numbers and that if someone is lifting supposed huge numbers if it is not being done right it will not make you big.

Also the risk of injury is huge I font know how anyone can get an injury for 3 months because someone was a poor spotter its obviously you were using way too much weigh to handle.

I gave someone a poor spot before. They lowered/dropped the bar and then were annoyed I did not know that a proper spotter does not let someone attempt to lift it but drag it up with them. A biworkout. They do small bit on chest and i fry my back and arms with some heavy bent over rows.

I never understood him. He asks for help then it is offered then he gets all pissy about the advice he asked for. Like his thread about processed chicken things he was eating. I remember he told me he was 17 he could eat what he wanted it didn't matter... Then why ask if it was ok to eat or not? Seemed to me he just wanted to act like a typical teenager and be a know it all.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. You should be pulling with your hamstrings, not your back. The back is a secondary muscle in this exercise, which really should not hit those upper areas THAT hard, especially if say you're performing SLDL's with 300 but your convential dead is 500.
I agree completely.

I'm new to this Forum and I am apart of a lot of other forums and I have to say (after lurking for only a couple days) that this forum is the worst. As much as I enjoy checking in and seeing what advice different people have to give, I'm really bothered by the lack of respect and smart ass comments from some of the members. I think the mods need to get a little more control over the comments and put members into their place.

In my opinion, the roll eyes icon was totally immature and un called for...You are not in grade 2 here guys! The man asked for help and as much as you deny it you totally bashed him! I would expect more from grown men...and 1 in particular woman!

To be honest, I see the smart ass comments and it's making me not want to write anything on here because I'm afraid of what certian people have to say due to some of the comments they have left for other people....Advice, you want people to join and be comfy posting, but I don't think people are...Mods, get a grip of whats going on on your site...Maybe thats why you all see lurkers and no posting?? Thats why maybe you seem to think DF is dieing??

That's your opinion becuase you've been here for "only a couple of days". YOu must have missed where the kid boasts benching 2x bw, squatting and deadlifting 3x bw, yet asks very newbish questions.

It's not that we don't want to help a beginner out, it's that clearly the kid is jerking us around. He's also suspected in having several other banned aliases.

Welcome to the board.

foxymama............you may want to keep your nose out of things which you know little about. This particular "man" (or kid) is known for making numerous pointless threads in which he requests help, then totally dismisses the advice of those who offer it. He claims to be stronger than 90% of those on this board as Firehawk mentioned but yet provides no proof whatsoever.

He is already on his second known user account and i'm sure will be back in a few days with another one to clutter up the board with meaningless posts.

The mods, admins, and other DF members have been very patient with him and have shown an amazing amount of restraint. Something which you probably didn't notice with your whole "couple of days" of lurking

If anyone should be rolling their eyes it should be us, at you for your disrespectful post.

So here goes........

Have a nice day.

I have no dog in this fight, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I have found this forum and the great majority of the contributors to be respectful and earnest in their desire to help others. As you point out, you have only been lurking a couple of days. The roll eyes icon was in reference to various threads where the person who was banned made incredible claims about his strength, promised to back up said feats of strength with video, and never delivered. See, e.g., http://www.discussfitness.com/forums/f51/crazy-deadlift-37021.html. Hence, the rampant speculation and overt sarcasm.

Apart from the animosity that the banned poster has brought upon himself, I think you will be hard pressed to find a comment or question - no matter how rudimentary - that was not responded to in a genuine and encouraging manner. The moderators do an excellent job at keeping discussions on point and they propely banned the individual who was fomenting hostility on the board and making ad hominem attacks.

Oh, and Firehawk, perhaps the banned individual got upset because, in another thread, you questioned his drop in bench strength from 275 x 1 to 140 x 7 after a three month layoff (http://www.discussfitness.com/forums/f47/core-lifts-37442.html). I would be upset as well: he clearly stated that only two months ago his max had increased to 285 x 1 (http://www.discussfitness.com/forums/f51/max-everything-37028.html), up from his 275 x 1 three months ago (http://www.discussfitness.com/forums...ess-36929.html). Clearly, you should be more conscious of his purported PRs, no matter how implausible they may be.

Yes my apologies. I never woulda questioned it had I known his bench was 10lbs higher to begin with. lol

Since I'm the only woman who responded in this thread (that I'm aware of), I assume the "1 woman" you refer to is me. (?) I don't see what my being a woman has to do with my position being aligned with the male members of the board.

I am sorry you feel disappointed, but in my own defense, as I cannot speak for anyone but me, spending more than a few days in the forum, and observing people's posting habits, including reactions or comments the banned poster made against other members.

I could see how Pierini exercising his right to very briefly ban this poster could be accidentally misinterpreted if you are relying on just a thread, or a few threads, or just a few days of lurking. I personally think Admin and the Mods have been extremely patient and lenient, and that if you were to review a fuller history, you may gain at the very least, a bit of potential insight behind the occurance.

We don't want to alienate people or make people uncomfortable. I am sorry that you feel intimidated to post here or feel that any of us have attacked you or hurt you. If you were to look back perhaps just a little bit, you'll see the poster who was banned did precisely those things that you do not like. Heck, we don't like attacks either. Mr. P would not have banned him (and at that, only for 7 days) just on a whim. A lot preceeded this action (more than a few days worth), which is why I, too, feel Mr. P is being exceptionally courteous, given the extended history.

I, for one, appreciate your being forthcoming and sharing your opinions with us. I also hope you opt to stick around, as we are, cumulatively, more than what a few days may reveal. But I respect your decision, whatever that may be.

F-Mac....Please, talk about immature! It's people like you who make a site die!

Well, in all the issues you had with this man you should have ban him a long time ago.

Within my couple days of lurking I have spent a lot of time viewing a ton of threads and posts so I did notice his rude comments like "Take it in the rear" and others, that should'nt have been accepted a long time ago.

Also, I noticed that most of you dropped to his level of maturity after you banned him, you continued to insault and bash him and he is not even here to defend himself! After you ban him you should have been grown up and LOCKED the thread instead of letting it go onto this, it was his thread to begin with and seeing as how he is no longer here it should be closed!

lol.......you have discovered my plan..........slowly kill DF from the inside.

Shhhhhh........don't tell anyone though, i'm hoping nobody was as clever as you and figured it out. Each and every one of my 963 posts thus far have been an attempt to bring down this site. I mean, I never started any journals, helped any newbies, made anyone laugh......none of that. I have been nothing but a negative influence from day 1. If only I could have been as helpful as the "lurker" who has 27 posts under her belt in less than a month.

Whatever though.........I do agree this thread should have been locked a while ago....right after post #23 would have been perfect.

Any mods wanna do it? Now's the time.
