Ok fine we get it, they do nothing for YOU. However, I think the bulk of the users here would say they do something for them. I know they do something for me. Maybe you aren't using enough weight? Maybe you are destin to set a world dead lift record... But enough already we get it they do nothing for you.

maybe you aren't deadlifting correctly. try a high rep yet challenging weight of deadlifts and let us know how it goes. have fun and get a bucket ready.

I can straightbar deadlift 405 7 times bub, and on the trap bar I can do 600 for 3. Im pretty sure I am using enough weights.

Someoen who moves that kind of weight wouldn't sound like such a jackass in my opinion, and would have more respect for one of the best exercises out there. Go back to BB.com

My deadlift is better than my squat (30-40#), ever since I began to squat past parallel. Prior to that my squat was better than my deadlift. I also feel that gaining strength on the deadlift will be easier for me than the squat.
In terms of which is harder.. I don't know. I do know that I would prefer to do 10 reps of deadlift at 70% of my 1rm than I would squats.

ditto..... the thought of squatting, seems easy, but every time I do them, I forget how breathe taking they are... I struggle to breathe, keep legs straight, my feet start turning, I come up all crooked. but I aint saying deadlifting is a piece of cake. Just thinking of a deadlift doesnt even sound easy as compared to how I think about the squat. Deadlifting and its many variations are my favorite exercise though.

i think deadlifts are the most taxing. i mean damn not only do they kill your back and ass, but it takes everything you've got to hold on to that bar.

true dat homie. try doing deads first then... ive tried both, and most people agree its easier on your mind to do squats first. you might absolutely love doing deads first.

I think most people will be able to DL more than they squat, generally speaking. I don't think there's any type of mathematical ratio or average, but generally speaking, I do seem to notice (perhaps because in part due to the lack of vertical axial spinal compression above, it makes it easier to hoise the DL).

As someone who is a self-proclaimed deadlift guru, deadlifts are by far the harder and better exercise.
That SHOULD answer your question. (notice I'm not asking... i'm simply letting you know)
How's that for an answer ?
And now to actually contribute...
When I deadlifted 550 in october my raq squat was around 350-380 tops. For most unequipped lifters, the squat will be less than the deadlift.

Before I would disagree with that, because I feel I wasnt that experienced with them... but after practicing Deads and Getting my squat ATG, I have agree with you know... Its so much easier to get a squat down and up, using all those muscles... I can feel it all... with the deads, they are startin to make me sick, im starting to hate doing them (not really I love it) ALl I can feel is Hamstring, PCL, Lower back, and partly traps.. traps really do nothing, they assist the lower back when your in the last phase, or thats what it feels like to me. Deads are much harder for me...
