Do you guys lift everyday?
What I mean is that if you're training as a powerlifter, do you do powercleans or bench press or whatever event you are training for every day?

No. The muscles need to rest. When you lift, you are actually creating microscopic tears in the muscle. The muscle sees this damage and builds itself up stronger. If you do the same lift every day, you're not giving the muscle a chance to rebuild.

I'm no powerlifter but the answer is still....
No.
Amazing but true. Firehawk and Dan agreed on something. That means that the answer is pretty much NOT open for debate in any way.

So you do it every other day instead of 5 days on two days like most other sports?

That varies. The one bodypart/day high intensity guys usually go 5 days a week (max ot and similar things). The high frequency guys usually go 3 days a week.
Personally, I go 3 one week, 4 the next. My schedule generally requires every other day. Then at times I back off to every 3rd day.

I don't know the answer to that one. But I do think powerlifting as we know it today evolved from the olympic lifts.
No question about it, olympic lifts will make you big and strong.

Great guys...rub it in.
I can't do those lifts until I get some coaching. Schedule conflicts with the dude who's going to teach me to do them so we can't get together for a while.
Even the girls here at DF are doing them.
Now I'm sad and ashamed.

I don't understand this comment. What do you mean by "atheletic supporting workout"?
