Front Squats
I like to use front squats for my lower quad development and go moderately with the weight to start with. Do many of you do front squats any more or just stick with ordinary squats?
I would definately say that this is my favourite leg workout so far, but.....who the hell likes training quads? " arrrrh"!

I hate to generalyze, but I'd have to say that powerlifters aren't that big into front squats. You'll see them done much more if you train with an olympic style lifter. Having said that, front squats are fine. It boils down to where you like the bar to be.
If you want a really challenging squat then try and over-head squat. If you've ever seen someone do the snatch you'll know what I'm talking about.

I recently have changed over to front squat and temp-retired back squats for the rest of this year. I want to focus more on my quads, but I am a bodybuilder. If you are a powerlifter, back squats are a not an option but a requirement.

hey greg if your reading this, you should try these on your warm-ups, remember when I said on overhead pressing push your head through as soon as the bar gets above your head, well on overhead squats your head has to be way through, I mean the head has to be further out than the bar when your ass to grass on these, will build some nice flexibilty in the shoulders and balence.

Front squats are great every now and then. After today's squat workout i did front squats w/ 115 + 2 red minis double wrapped. Cranked out two reps and failed miserably on the third. Don't know how much tension that was but i just couldn't come up.

I have read and taken note. : Are you saying to try overhead squats for warm ups to regular squatting? If so, how would the whole warm up go? Feel free to PM me so the thread isn't hijacked.

I'm pretty sure that height is a non issue. Squats, be they front, normal or over head, are the best leg builders. Pick one that you like.
