Got my Captains of Crush #1 today

And I am about a 1/16 on an inch from closing it with my left hand. I think I closed it with my right. The first 1/2 to 3/4 is actually easier than I thought but then the last 1/4 to close is brutal. It just stops dead in its tracks and refuses to touch.

Well now I've got my work cut out for me.

Do you think I would be able to work up to closing the #2 by January? According to the site I will need to be able to close the #1 10 - 12 times.

Anyone have any tips for hand positioning and training. I never have really trained for hand grippers.

Probably more than 10-12 too... I can knock out a good 14 reps with my right and the #2 is still not touching...

January is a reasonable goal tho...

After a couple warm-ups with the trainer, I usually just do one all-out set every day... Then three days a week, I follow that up with extensor and lever work... I'll probably start working in some cheated holds or something with the #2 tho... Have to get a feel for it before I can close it, I think...

Grip goes up, dead goes up. Well, everything goes up.

Enjoy...

You know that's really true. The 2 things I have found that affect my other lifts the most is grip and squats. I'm sure deadlifts are another but sadly I don't deadlift enough to see the benefits.

I'm gonna get killed for that (and I should) but admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Good to know. Thanks. I didn't buy the #2 yet. I wanted to see where I was with the #1 first.

I'm pretty sure I've posted about that in one of our "grip strength" threads before. It was pretty elaborate too, see if you can find it before I post it all out again.

Thanks. I'll look for that. I do remember seeing it in the past.

Definitely a reasonable goal to close #2 by January. I agree with Khaine...I can rep the #1 more than 10-12, yet I've only closed the #2 once or maybe twice, very inconsistently.

Just tried it out, I closed #1 20 times, but missed the #2 by very small amount.

I don't rep any gripper but my trainer just to loosen my hands up. After that its all singles or negatives. I tend to do frequent, short sessions. Just a few closes or negatives every other day or so. Allows me to keep my grip up without having to devote any real training time to it. Grease-the-groove-ish.

I can get the #2 everytime in my right hand from almost no set, and about 50/50 with a CoC set in my left. I'm still just barely missing the #2.5 in my right hand.
