Where are you getting your grippers? The most popular ones are the captians of crush sold at ironmind.com There are new ones called mash monsters but I don't know much about them. their are 5 differant COC's a trainer #1 #2 #3 & #4 theirs only about 5 guys in the world that can close a #4 if you close a #3 you get certified as a captain of crush.

The holds you are doing are good for grip, thickbars are great also try plate- curls 25lb plates are hard to curl I also rip small but thick stacks of paper and books and what ever I can whenever I can.

http://www.ishop.co.uk/ishop/images/..._exerciser.jpg I have something just like this. They cost about $3 at Fleet Farm. For $10 you can get one with adjustable resistance.

The COC trainer will probally build a better grip than those they are a little more expensive but there worth it.

If you can try to get a #1 also and do negatives with it if you can't close it.
most people can't close a #1 on the first try most experienced weightlifters can. I couldn't close it until about 1 month after I got it, but my crushing grip really sucks then when it got easy I sanded one of the inside ends so it would be harder, to prep for the #2. I still can't close a #2 and my training partner can close a #3 with each hand any time he feels like it.my crushing strength is horrible.

Try plate pinches, towel rinsing, varying thickness in the bar in static holds(done by putting a rag there), types of wrist curls, and of course grippers. (why does this seem like i've posted it before? )

Get a bucket of sand, fill it. Get a bucket of water, pour it into the sand. Put your hand in the sand, pat the sand so your hand is at good depth and covered ..... move your hand out of and back into a fist.

Excellent advice. Not too many people worry about the opening of the hand, but it plays a role in your ability to close it

The COC grippers are awesome, as for what level to get...hell get em all. I purchased the trainer, #1 & #2 the 1st time. What a waste of time, I closed the #2 pretty much right away. Im working on the #3 right now. Do negatives & overcrushers. Once a week it enough IMO.

Try the rolling thunder as well (thick revolving handle), pinch grip, ect.. hit em all.

Introducing Myself

O.K. guys I'm here to help! I'm a certified Captain Of Crush and a new Mash Monster! :

My Mash Monster Page

I usually recommend right off the bat the IM Trainer and the #1. That's because most guys can't close a #1, so they need a Trainer to train to close it, and then move up.

I'll tell you something that I found out as of late that is GREAT for improving your grip - thick bar lifts. Use a 2" thick bar and go super heavy on movements! Your grip will be fried if you do it right. I was doing partial deads using 420#s on my 2" thickbar, and I'd stick the lift and hold it up for as long as possible.

HitMan got it right - get the grippers! They are wonderful for not only building your grip strength but testing it as well. Plus, you can take them anywhere and train whenever and wherever you feel like it! Just don't overdo the grippers... I've seen a lot of guys make that mistake.
