The 385 was a bit high and the 405 probably just barely cut it, so I would work on depth, but going down that extra 1 inch to call it safe isn't gonna hurt you at all I don't think.
Also, take less steps. Everytime you move you waste energy. Unrack it, and you should have preferably no more than 2-3 steps to get into position.
Not bad for your first equipped squat at all. I am doing my first equipped squat sometime next week so we will see how it feels (im going suit, briefs, and wraps). Up to this point i have only used wraps to squat.

You looked like a veteran for your first time in equipment man. I thought the first one was borderline, probably not quite depth but no more than 1/2 inch, and i thought the second would probably pass.
I would not worry too much about your depth because it's there. If you were 2-3 inches high I would say to worry about it..but you aren't. In a meet, try to bury the first one to get yourself in the meet, and then just focus on breaking parallel to go for some bigger numbers.
Excellent work. You smoked that weight. You need to find somewhere with a monolift bro .
Something that i've been watching the big boys do in the gym, when they are squatting max effort, they will get near parallel and then they will dip their ass and spring up. It almost looked liek you did that a little bit too, not sure if you meant to or not. Usually they'll have someone call their depth or yell "dip!", then they seem to kinda let go and spring up with the weight..same type of effect you get out of a tight shirt.
Really nice dude.

The onyl reason i mentioned depth is because i got called at my contest and I squat barely parallel like he does. If you don't train to go a little under I think you could just screw it up...

Didn't you squat raw at your meet?

Yea... i was called high for both my 2nd and 3rd attempts with 385.
They told me i was litearily like half an inch from breaking parallel. This upcoming meet though I am doing a full geared up squat with a centurion, powerpants, and wraps, and belt.
The guy that trains with me (also a powerlifter) thinks ill be able to bury at least 435 way below parallel if im fully equipped.

You don't need to bury lifts with gear on though. Raw is way easier to bury squats. In a meet, just break parallel and go for bigger numbers after you get your first attempt in. Have someone call your depth.
That's my philosophy anyway. You don't get any brownie points for going 3 inches below parallel at a meet bro.

For starters thanks the all the kind words guys I really appreciate it.
I know the walkout was bad on both sets that is one thing I really need to work on. I was not comfortable taking big steps in the knee wraps and ended up with a lot of little ones. One other think is my TP knocked the power cage off center racking his 405 set before me (I can't believe it isn't bolted to the floor) but I usually use the cage to make sure my feet are square. Since the cage was crooked I ended up looking down at my feet which made the set up even longer.
I will be lifting in a monolift at my August APA meet. If things go according to plan my 3rd squat will probably be 500. That will be with some briefs on under my Z-Suit.
As for sucking weight......I hope to be in the high 170's by then so that would suck (no pun intended). I am really not into that. I am just going to compete at my natural weight all the way up to 198's I think.

Come on guys, get this thread alive again. Those clips were awesome and it was great to see the DF people for real, doing what we talk about, practicing what we preach,.....not to mention cranking out some seriously nice pullls.
I'd like to see more videos....(longer ones than 23 seconds.....MM, nice lift, nice technique, nice physique,.....post more vids).
I think it's great to be seeing our people (our DF people) posting the results of our efforts. Let's kick this thread back up!

I have always wanted to get some videos on here but I don't own a video camera so its a little tricky. I am sure I could borrow a camera from a friend though, so perhaps sometime in the near future I will have a few vids up.
until then though.. lets see some new PR's people!

Ladies before gentlemen Merrida so after you!
I've posted several videos but not iron stuff (just boring karate and bodyweight-only stuff) and the thought has crossed my mind as of late to post so thanks for the reminder.

After me what? I don't do oly-lifts or any impressive weights, so I'm not quite sure what I'd be posting (not to mention again,...no way to record it).
But I loved this entire thread.
I watch lifting videos,....but there IS something different when I watch the DF gang "in person" doing their thang....! It's actually inspired me to try oly lifts, (gingerly, due to my back), but think about that,....I've NEVER done any oly lifts because of my spine, and they didn't appeal to me, but watching some of those vids, got me spiked.
Not to mention, spur me on to increase my bench and DL's.

I was thinking of getting a carmera and bringing it to my gymnastics center one of these days. have a crossfit type high volume workout, or even just to see what I look like flipping and tumbling around the gym.
