How's Training going?

Hey Guys,

Just wantiong to jump in and see how everyone is doing and how training is going.

Mine is going good hitting some pretty good PR's Raw here lately. I'm focusing this spring and summer on getting my weight down and gettting healthy. Just before the UPA Nationals had a few minor health issues that needed to be tended(need to lose weight gained to much back WAY to fast).

So now my main goal is focsuing on getting down to 300 pounds by end of summer and hoping for mid 200's by winter time. We will then rev everything back up and get rolling at a much lighter and healthier weight.

If anyone cares to share how their training is going I'm interested.

Wolfy!!!!

mines severely discombobulated, I need a refresher course on what to eat when, and Hopefully this time I can stay in the gym a little longer than 3 months when I approach it... I always forget a key ingredient in anyones training. Consistency! I lack it, but hopefully not this time.

Good luck Mike.

here's a video from my recent training. Things are going very well right now. This week we were out of the shirts and I'd decided we should do some floor pressing with 100lbs of chain weight. After that we did a few heavy sets for reps. I'm shooting for a 750 bench in August (geared) at a meet in Cincy

don't like Stemm eh? I'm a pretty big fan of the UFC and they do about every song that the UFC plays so I've come to really like them

I did not know that was stemm. having said that, my sister is my source to alot of alternative and hardcore rock that I miss, and I have heard some of thier stuff before, theyre arent horrible, so I will retract my last statement, but you couldve picked something better! just doesnt sound hard enough.

I realize that is WAY off topic, you mite find I have a habit of doing this. lol. for me, I just like to get on here and learn about stuff, and enjoy peoples thoughts and opinions, and I think this whole group is a good group of people to talk to, so I get carried away sometimes from the main subject.

Can I ask you something else... Because Ive never saw anyone do pressing off the floor, what is the purpose of it? Im guessing to train just for the upper portion of the lift, and the floor is the gaurd stopping your arms from going any lower right?

haha I understand. I try not to pick something too hard just because not everyone who watches my videos appreciates the same level of music we do.

Floor presses are mostly for the triceps and mid range of your bench. The difference from benching off boards or pins is that your arms are stopping the weight by hitting the floor. You're also starting from a completly static position (similar to the box squatting we were talking about in the other thread) I really get alot of carryover from my floor press to regular bench and shirted bench

well im not really a strength trainer... im just training, just winging it. I have no goal really, other than to get bigger, and look prettier <-- as my girl would say.
theres just no organization to what I do, other than I do a 3 day split currently, but then again, im just not feeling ready to start an actual training regimen, I dunno... I train hard and smart I believe, and I am always am looking for extra help from others.

I think that sometimes a general opinion is that to be on a strength program or just a program at all means that its really rigid and requires super level focus. Not really the case completly. I glanced at your log and actually its not that bad at all. Considering your goals are pretty much hypertrophy (get bigger haha) I think you're on the right track. I know you hate doing legs, but it'd help if you bumped up your volume (an extra exercise or two) that would definatly help. You're taking it slow which is good, but if you slowly bring up your volume, it'll allow you to use all that eating you do to the full extent.

what I would recommend though is getting on a pre-laid out program. It'll really simplify your life and you can tailor it to what you want. I know when I was starting lifting, that really made a huge difference
