I got some compliments from......

from the guys I trained with this sunday, I trained with some strongmen who are in heavier weight-classes, I must say that these dudes are pretty impressive looking, they look like bodybuilders really, with pretty crazy cuts and veins ,all that, I always feel a little out of place when I first get there.

Well, I've known these guys for ( pretty well) 1.5 years now, one guy Keith calls me the "sleeper" because I don't look like I'd fare very well in the contest, they all told me that I've definatliy gotten bigger (stronger for sure) but they said my arms looked bigger, and they were impressed with my quad development, also back in May I went to PA and trained with 2-heavies who I haven't seen in a year, and both of them told me I had a "meaty" back, they told me my back deveoplment was much improved.

As for my quads, I was wearing baggy shorts to the knee level, but when I lifted something my quads were exposed, and Graham told me afterwards (when were all chillin, drinking beer) that even while just sitting in the chair with no quad expostion, he could see the thickness in my quads just by noticing muscle built all around my knee, I never asked any of these opinions, thay just said them.

The funny thing is before I first got into this, I was training bb style,
and now-a-days I rarley ever do squats, actually I do overhead squats alot but never over 140lbs, and only front squat like once every 2-weeks, and there just a few sets of singles, I do the full ROM deads for only a few singles also.
Sled drags rock the quads too, but it's not full ROM movement.
I never do much BOR's chins ect. ect.

My basic lifts are partials and event training, yoke, and farmers and holds are all "time under tension" movements.

I guess my piont here is that I rarley do full ROM movements, execpt the "quick lifts" as of lately and these are the lightest of my training, yes I can add some things to improve my body, and maybe I will, later, But for now I got other fish to fry.

All I'm trying to say here is that I made improvments (got bigger, harder, ect.) from not going overboard (I go underboard) on the full ROM stuff, just incase guys out there are AFRAID to hit the partails for awhile.

Also for the last few weeks I've been doing heavy tire flips for high reps, MAN, that is killer on all the big muscles (and small ones) I've done supersets, dropsets all that, theres nothing like a heavy tire flip for high reps.
Clean and presses for high reps comes in a close 2nd on that type of muscular endurance.

So...most likely I should have more muscular improvment as the months go on, and I don't even train for size

Well that's because when you train for strength you don't get bigger...

I'm a big fan of using partials. It can provide a killer workout and help a person really move some weight. More weight = more strength. Add a good diet and size gains should come too. Congrats luke.

Even though I'm a bodybuilder I found out years ago that isolation work is nothing more than busy work. Firehawk, your term "powerbuilder" is quite apropriate to the style of training I like.

All that means is that you aren't a narrow-minded bodybuilder Ironman. .

LOL what?! There's bodybuilders who are open minded, and then there's bodybuilders who are narrow-minded lol.
