52 pounds, 14 ounces... I think I'm going to name her Loretta after my grandmother who died a few years ago of bone cancer. I figure that will remind me that if she could endure that pain and hardship that went with fighting that brutal disease for so long, surely I can go for a few more reps.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. My opinion is not easily changed (I thought I was getting the adjustable for sure), but you guys made a compelling argument and I'm glad you did. I just took her for a spin. 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off alternating one hand swings (transfer every 5 reps) with one hand clean and jerks (transfer every 4 reps) for 20 rounds in 20 minutes. Kept a pace of about 15 swings/8 CJs every interval. I think I'm gonna get this workout in once or twice a week, working on reducing rest and upping the rep pace and reps per arm before transferring. It was tough, but hopefully not for long.
Already tore my hand open doing these. Tips for avoiding this?
I was gonna include a picture of me right now also, but I took like 5 and they all came out blurry. Basically, the last time I was as lean as this, I weighed about 165 pounds. I'm tipping the scales at about 180 these days. Hopefully when its time to compete (MMA), I'll be, to quote my favorite movie, "carved out of wood." Oh, and I've been hitting the weights a MAXIMUM of twice a week, usually only once lately. Moral of the story? 4-5 intense sports workouts coupled with one good weight
lifting session can do wonders for making you a chiseled version of your natural weight, provided you have a solid strength and muscle base.
