Me Loading Atlas Stone 225lb Today

I'd like any critiquing from those who have done Atlas stones (dan) on the form. Maybe i'm not doing enough with my legs or whatever. Any help is appreciated. I had some chalk on the forearms and hands. We don't use the sticky stuff, but there's some on the stones from the Strongman Competition we put on about a month ago.

Looks good man! My only suggestion is to use a higher barrel.

j/k... it looked good. You rolled it into your gut like you should... you rocked back to generate a little momentum... there was nothing I could suggest from this angle. Once the stones get a little heavier there's some issues that will come into play but it looked to me like you did everything you needed to do to get the stone up.

For training purposes, it's good to do reps from the lap up without putting the stone down. Just stand up with it and "chest" it, like you were going to load it onto a 5ft+ platform, bring it back down to the lap and repeat without ever taking your hands off. This kind of training is especially useful when you are at a near limit stone.

Thanks for looking at it.

I never even thought to do reps like you suggested. I will definitely do that next time i hit the stones and I will video tape. The only thing else we have in the gym are tires that we can put on the barrel to elevate, but I did that once and the stone got stuck in the tire and I couldn't get it out LOL. I don't want to have to leave that for the others like last time. I felt bad.

I definitely want to use a higher platform though, especially considering I'm tall. The others in my gym are 5'10 and under, most of them, so that barrel is higher for them.

Not a clue about form and critique...not my thing.

But wow, it did look pretty impressive.

Especially when I see those sexy runners calves.

Sorry, I can't help since I know nothing about lifting Atlas stones. I just wanted to post and say that that was pretty impressive!

You hoisted 200 in your vid yesterday pretty easy......no suprise you managed 225. Nicely done :

I really can't critque your form as I've never done it myself but I was thinking that low cable pull-thru's, parallel GM's and rack deadlifts would be pretty good supplementary exercises.

I would like to try the 240 again, got it to my knees before but not all the way up, but someone broke it or something. It's vanished. The next rock is the 260. I'm not sure i have the grip for that.

You drop it onto a non flexible surface. Those rocks aren't 'rocks' persay. I'm sure Dan knows more about how they are made, but i think they are molded together.

There's a differnet rock in the gym that is broke right down the middle, laying there in halves.
