My first powerlifting meet "results"

I went 198 raw in the teen class.

Started out with 345 on squat. Went too high. Went to 375 and my foot slipped on the floors which had too much chalk on them and spotters caught the bar (this counted as a second attempt for some reason). Went third at 375 again to at least put myself on the board and DOH! went too high again.

Next is bench which is even funnier. Right before one of the judges said i could use the side of my foot to bench and that was ok so long as my heels are planted (i already had to tweak my form that day because no tippy toe benching was alowed). Well right when i unracked it the judge had me rerack it and told me my feet had to be completely flat so my arch was gone almost fully.

The results: 245 x 1 Red lighted because i didn't pause long enough. 245 x 1 good lift but still red lighted because im an idiot and racked it without the rack command. 265 x half way up. I hit this in training like nothing but the environment was completely different and my form for bench was not at all what it usually is because of my adjustments.

Deadlift was the only thing that got me a total. I opened with 405 going sumo style. Got it no problem. Went to 451.9 (?) and got that as well no problem. Last attempt I wanted to go for 475 and went to lift it. As soon as i began to pick it up i felt something was up. They misloaded the bar. By this time i had given the pull a hard try so my back was pretty wasted. When they got everything corrected i didn't even budge the bar.

So my total for the meet was a whopping 451 lbs. Haha woooohooo.

Ill get some funny videos of me racking the 245 too early and my misloads up soon as well as my only good lift at 451.

May have been some technical mistakes, but you still lifted a lot of weight. Nice work. Chalk it up to gaining experience.

What fed was this in or was it a high school thing?

It's cool that you competed. Sounds like first meet jitters, everyone has them.

What fed would allow you to continue on after bombing in the squat though?

Now you got to total better than 451 for the next time. Some of those rules were weird...like u have to have heels on the floor. That's weird.

Chalk it up as your first meet under your belt. You showed great character to continue after all that tech. stuff alot of guys would have dropped out. Was it an IPF meet, they are pretty sticky on everything. Are you hooked now?

It was a usapl meet under ipf rules.

By going too high i mean i got redlighted for depth.

I do have some videos, do you by any chance know any video compression software cause the videos are a bit big?

Yea it was. And hell yes im hooked. I think there is a meet around august that i will attend amd hopefully actually total.

If i was gonna bomb both bench and squat that day it would have been a better idea simply to just deadlift and that way i would have pulled huge.

Hey, I know absolutely nothing about powerlifting or competing. But it seems that you've got a handle on what went wrong. From looking at your personal lifting records and your PRs, you are a very strong young man.

Good luck next time. I think you'll do great.

Do you have windows XP? If so, Movie Maker is an excellent program.

Your bench form looks pretty good you brought the bar down under the chest, had your elbows in and I wish I could arch that much. Good stuff. Have you tried using a bench shirt before?
