SLDL Question for experienced lifters

I was just told by a friend he was told by a personal trainer to never go above 135 on SLDL. What are your opinions/thoughts? Have any of you done more than this and not had any problems? I put 235 on tonight and got like 8 reps out and I feel fine. I also do Good Mornings to work my lower back.

I don't know how you could hurt yourself unless you are doing weight to the point of straining yourself like going for a max or whatever which I don't know why you would in the first place on SLDL.

That PT is a jackass and clearly has no idea what he is talking about. I've done 315 for reps in the past with no problems, aside from the ridiculous DOMS the next day. Keep a tight arch in your back and you'll be fine. If you can't keep a tight arch, you're going too heavy.

The PT can really help you progress if you just do the opposite of what he says

A lot of PT's (and doctors as well) will advise against heavy lifting of any kind........they are merely covering their asses in my opinion. If they tell you to lift heavy, and you hurt yourself (whether it's your fault or not), some people will sue..............that's just the way people react to stuff like that nowadays.

Unfortunate really.

Like the guys above me said.........keep a tight arch, use a belt if you feel it's needed and you won't have any problems.

That's a decent goal for me and I'm a middle aged woman. I've been there before. Use a platform to get the most out of the stretch at the bottom.
