Squat / Deadlift Problems

Lately while cutting i have been doing a lot more quad work: more ass to grass squats, more front squats, etc.

I have been sometimes lazy to do powerlifting style squats, yet i have increasingly hit the olympic lifts hard and hit upper body really hard.

At a weight of 223 (down from 242) I have been able to keep my bench consistent and my ass to grass squats and front squats are up (lately i front squated 205 x 8 which before was unfeasible for my weak ass quads); yet, yesterday after a week layoff something interesting happened.

The workout went like this:
Squat (pl style) raw: 205 x 5, 255 x 3, 275 x 3, 295 x 4
Belted squat: 315 x 1

315 before was a weight i could do around 5 reps. I have no explanation for why this weight felt so heavy.

Rack Walkouts and hold for 20 seconds: 365, 401
Deadlifts (ok so i was a bit dumb for doing this after all this previous work but i figured wtf): 325 x 1, 345 x 1, 375 x 1, 396 x 4 inches up and stall, 386 x not even close.

The weight is coming off the floor a ****load faster now after all the oly work ive been doing but my deadlift seems to have gone down as well.

I really have no idea whats going on... since im lighter theoretically i should be able to squat more and since i have consistently been squatting and oly lifting (even though i havnt deadlifted in 4 weeks) the pulls shouldn't have been that bad.

Anyone got some tips? Im currently still on a russian bench routine and will be for a few more weeks.

Soemthing that i have thought of is to take out abs and add in deadlifts and maybe some speed deads or clean pulls because i have had little lower back work lately.(once again have not done any form of deads in 4 weeks)

Im open to suggestions, but i have to finish the program im on so i cant really change my training style too much.

if the weight you can handle is going down, it's usually because of overtraining - not giving your body enough time to rest between workouts.

Monday i do speed low box squats, wednesday i do front squats, friday i do powercleans, saturday i do pl squats in a periodized fashion.

Its 3 times a week plus a 4th time if you consider powercleans deadlifting. Actually, i havnt deadlifted in around 6 weeks come to think of it because i got an injury from trying to do smolov based on the deadlift.

I hope im not overtraining... we will see though. I'll push through these last 3 weeks hopefully unless my lifts continue to drop.

if you're squatting AND deadlifting every other day, damned straight you're burning out!

try this: stop squats AND deadlifts for five full days - see what happens to the numbers then.

Last week i was on vacation, which was a total of 6 days off, which is why im unsure that it was overtraining. Any possible explanations for this?

ah - so technically, then, you *didn't* take a day off - you were still working your legs. when you take a day off, it means OFF: nothing, zip, nada, lie on the beach and drink frilly drinks with umbrellas and a cherry in them.

Sometimes freak things happen. It coulda been anything. If you start seeing a trend then i'd get worried, but chances are next time you lift you'll find that it was a fluke.

Its most definetely because im sick. Like an idiot i thought i should bench today anyways and suck it up.

i was supposed to hit 235 x 5 x 5 and on all sets could only manage 4 reps. (besides first two where i just didnt want to try)
