Squat strength in action

This is definitely impressive:

She is an Oly lifter who uses the squat jerk in her C&J and I believe she is a member of the 2008 Olympic team.

There's a lesson kids... if you develop your hamstrings, glutes, and calves, a full squat becomes much easier! That was my classy way of saying she has a sweet... uh... posterior chain.

Isn't the knees bowing inward a big no-no though? I know it gets tougher to keep form deeper into the sets, but even when I was doing gut-wrenching 20+ reppers in the back squat, I always made sure as I was forcing the weight out of the hole such that my knees would remain pointing in the direction of my toes (usually slightly outward).

Mav: I think as with any rule... at certain levels it can be broken if a lifter is stronger performing the lift in another way apart from conventional form.

Bodyshop... cmon bro. She's squatting 3 x her bodyweight for 10 reps. The form is pretty damn good for what she's doing.

I know my buddy from the UK well enough to know that he wouldn't let her "bad form" keep him from letting her sit on his chest.

lol...

I actually liked her squat form.. on the way up she thrusts like how you would with a dead lift, and she was keeping back straighter than if she wouldnt have been doing that... I didnt see where her knees were bowing inwards either?

Her knees did bend inwards a bit. Wasn't that big of a deal. Maybe she needs a little more strength in the adductors / abductors? Maybe not.

Some people have less than "textbook" form but yet it is right for them. She is obviously doing something right.

I do the same thing when I get tired or the weight gets heavy. I probably need more strength in those areas you mentioned as well.

My form isn't text book either because I have to learn further than most people I train with since I have a long femurs I guess. Even with the bar, I look like my back is leaning alot, but i'm sitting back, my knees aren't forward, and my back is arched. I don't really know what else I can do. Either my knees are going to go past my knees and my back stays more vertical, or I have to lean more to keep the center of gravity.

i never had that problem until i started olympic lifting. i think it comes from squatting deep. my knees do that when i lose momentum coming out of the hole when i try to explode up...by that i mean, squat as fast as i can...especially happens on heavy cleans when i get tired...

food for thought
