Congrats, Dan! It was an excellent competition. Kudos for getting out there and putting it all on the line.

Did you say pullups were done with palms facing away from the body? If that's true it makes your count of 10 is even more amazing. On second thought, regardless of the grip it is still an excellent rep count.

Are you training pullups in preparation for next years competition?

Yes, thumbless, hands pronated pull ups. Otherwise known as a 'tactical pull up' as it's supposed to mimick climbing a wall or pulling yourself up to a window ledge. I suppose 10 reps with 246lbs isn't too bad, huh?

Either way, I'll need to improve on that big time if I want to score higher in this challenge. If you notice, most of the guys that compete in the TSC are 'kettlebell guys' and have lean wiry physiques, most of them well under 200lbs. The next event is in September.

As for now though most of my upper body training has been sidelined - I banged up my hand pretty good last weekend. I thought I had just bruised it, but I'm starting to wonder...

Uh-oh. What did you do to it? And how?

Even though those guys you competed against were 'kettlebell guys' you sure smoked them on the snatch and deadlift. As for the pullups - there were only two guys heavier than you. Pretty impressive!

A buddy of mine almost got beat up by a couple guys leaving the bar last week. Let's just say I had to break the fight up.
