Tatical Strength Challenge Results

Great day for me!

Opened the deadlift with 530, easy pull but felt a little bit of a stretch in my bicep.

2nd attempt was at 555, I switched grips to protect the bicep that I was now conscious of. I had some negative thoughts going through my head but the weight went up smooth and steady.

Next attempt was at 575. This time my adrenaline was rushing, the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up and in my mind's eye I already saw myself completing the lift. I fought through it and stood erect with a 15lb PR... I'm now a mere 10lbs away from 6 wheels!

A 15 minute break and we were onto the pull ups.

I got 10 reps, fighting long and hard for that last one, which was a PR rep. My goal was 10-12 here, so I was happy with that. (There was one very impressive performance during this event that you'll just have to wait to see on the video.)

A 15 minute break and we were onto the snatches.

The snatch record in this event is 132 in 5 minutes with a 24kg, which 3 people have actually accomplished. In retrospect, I wish I would have set my sights at 133 but my goal coming into this was 132 and that's what I did. I'm happy, don't get me wrong, but it would have been cool to take the record. A 2 rep PR never the less.

Good times. I picked up a 12-pack and a stogie to celebrate, gonna kick back tonight with some friends and watch the UFC fights.

Thanks guys. It was a good time, only a handful of us that competed at this location but everybody that came out I'm good friends with. Most of us are separated by an hour or more drive, so events like these are really just an opportunity for us to get together, lift and shoot the stuff.

Though I don't believe all of the results are in yet, it appears as if the new snatch record is at 140! :O

I'll post some video when I get around to downloading it. I've got so much going on right now between work, clients, track & field, teaching class and my own training I get very little time to play around with videos. I suppose I could post some of the raw footage but that's not nearly as fun!

Dan, did you have an "equipped" class at your competition?

It wwas really 3 PRs, correct?

575 dead (by 15 pounds)
10 pullups (unsure)
132 KB snatches (by 2 reps)

All I can think to say is "That is a tremendous accomplishment!".

I missed these last couple posts...

Thanks for the comments everybody! And yes, Ironman, it was 3 PR's - my previous best in the pull ups was 9 (not as strict) reps.

The final international tally has been posted here:

http://tacticalstrengthchallenge.com...rnational.html

It's funny, I placed 1st in the deadlift, 2nd in the snatch and 33rd in the pull ups! LOL!

6th out of 42 overall though, not too bad.

And no welch, there is no equipped class anywhere in the TSC. Belts are allowed in the deadlift, but I don't think any of my guys wore them. Just so happens that we had the heaviest pulls
