That's a great achievement LiftGirl and I consider it a big deal to me, as I know that a high percentage of men cannot even do a single pullup.
I'd be interested in knowing the specific training you did that allowed you to skin that fitness cat.
Keep the pedal to the metal!

Did another one last night to prove I can do it consistently and it wasn't just a fluke.
Mr. P, I did it by following the advice in this article.
http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/displayarticle.php?aid=51
It's called mistressing the pullup, but of course men could learn using the same techniques. I had been training for some time before reading the article, so I started at Step 3 (negatives). Once I could do four or five of those, my DH encouraged me to try a pullup, and to my amazement, I did it!

Huge day for PR's for me!
KB snatch - 24kg x 64/64 in 8 minutes 1 hand switch no put downs
BB Jerk - 255 x 1
Lifeline Chest Expander - 2 orange bands x 12
KB Jerk - 24kg x 36/36 in 6 minutes 1 hand switch no put downs
All this with a sinus infection. Go figure.

I know this isn't a big deal to most of you, but it is something I have wanted to do ever since those President's Physical Fitness challenges in high school. I have worked toward this goal in various ways since I started exercising almost four years ago. Now I have finally achieved it, and I'm really excited! Next, I'll start trying to get more than one.

The following were all PR's...
Today's workout:
KB snatch - 64/64 in 8 minutes
(I paid less attention to the clock - I know I got 18 reps the first minute and started the left hand at 4:20. Form went to crap on both hands after 50 reps or so - very 'choppy' lockout. Grip on the downswing was better. Local endurance the weak link.)
Log C&P - 150x5, 240 x clean only, 240 x missed press, 240 x missed press, 240 x 1 *PR on this log
Ring pull ups - BW (250) x 8, x 7 immediately followed by:
Ab wheel - BW x 10
KB Jerks - 32 x 20/20
(Did not pay attention to time but would estimate 10 rpms.)
Interesting side note: I wore a HR monitor for the snatches... I averaged 193bpm and maxed at 199 in a time of 8:09.

That is as impressive as the snatch performance totals Dan. Definitely an upper-end anaerobic workout with plenty of time in the dreaded red zone. I tip my hat off to you and your conditioning.
Do you know what your resting heart rate is? How about your maximum HR? You must have been pretty darn close to it during that WOD.

I thought you might like that pierini. If I can remember, I'll check my resting HR tomorrow morning when I get up. As for my maximum, 199 is the highest I've ever got it, but it's supposed to be 220 - your age... which is obviously a very general guideline. Do you know another way to get your max HR?

Yup. Keep doing those KB snatches until you can't do another one. Then start doing burpees or hill sprints until you physically and mentally cannot do another one or you get too close to Pukie for comfort. Check the reading and that will be close to your truth.
Of course, there is always the medically-supervised treadmill test but who has time for that.
220 minus your age doesn't work for me as that formula would have me at a max of 168bpm and I believe I'm closer to 185bpm.

Very good. I know you have commented in the past that the jerk was your limiting factor, so you must have had an explosive drop in getting that weight overhead. Congrats big time!
