Herro :)
Hello to everyone. I guess i'll start out by giving some basic information about myself
Name: Winston
Age: 20
Weight: 250
Goals : loose weight/get some decent weights in deadlift and squat
Now for some background information.
I started lifting my freshman year in H.S. I really didn't know much of anything and got my information from magazines and people at the gym. I used my training mostly for appearance and increasing my shot put. Towards the end of my senior year, I was in the best shape of my life at 200 lbs and 12% body fat. Then college hit. Due to time restraints and what not i started to slowly stop hitting the gym.
Then i started taking some kinesiology and strength training classes and that really helped me with the mis-information that i had for so many years. Then due to my strength training class and its proffessor, I started training for the Penn State York powerlifting team. With the help of my coach, multi national and world champion with the WNPF, i was able to learn the training techniques to increase my lifts quite quickly. I only ended up competing once. In the teen - 100 kg class, i was able to hit a 455 deadlift and a pathetic 225 bench. Well, due to classes and other reasons, i stopped training for almost 6 months.
Now i'm finally getting back into the gym. With my class schedule and what not, i have plenty of time to hit the gym, and have been doing so. At first, i just wanted to loose some weight (get down to 200 lbs) and just look decent, but once i got into the gym that all changed.
I know i am definately going to get back into powerlifting, tho only the dead lift and squat ( i have no interest in the bench). I plan on getting back down to the 220 lb weight class and start training for meets. Right now my main goal is to loose the fat and get back in shape. I am going to do light squat and deadlift ( < 350lbs x 8 reps) just to keep those muscle groups semi strong while i loose the fat.
I am here mainly for nutrition information, to help others, and for morale support when i ht a wall. Sorry for the long post, and I hope to be a good member of this community.
-Winston
