Hi Everyone

Hi everyone,
I am new here, and have really enjoyed reading this forum the past few day's.
My wife and I have recently started to get ourselves into better shape.
We purchased a elliptical machine and are really enjoying it. I am here trying to learn what other things we should do as well to help us reach our goals.

Our goals are pretty basic I guess. To simply be in better physical condition.
I am 40, 5'7" 135-140 lbs.
She is 38 5'7" somewhere in the 1teen's.

I am worse off than her.. I smoke, dont eat or sleep right.
Those are the 3 things i immediately need to work on.
They say in order to quit smoking you really have to want to. I think I am finally there. I am going to give it a go this week .

She sleeps better, eats better and never smoked.

I just wanted to say hello and let you all know how mch I am enjoying reading all of your post's. I have learned so much in the short time I have been here.

Bob

Hi bob and welcome!

It is great that you and your wife are going to get into the fitness lifestyle, and to do it together.

Congratulations on your decision to give up smoking, I wish you all the best with it.

Hope to see you around the forums, maybe your wife would like to join also? aNd maybe you would like to start an online journal here, I find them to be very good for keeping me on track and holding myslef accountable.

Another idea would be to begin tracking your food using a tool such as FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal its free and its great!

good luck!

Hi, Bob and welcome to DF.

You should consider adding resistance training to your routine. Either lifting weights or simply using body weight or something like crossfit.

Thanks for the welcome's.

I have been reading the diet and nutrition forum. I think that will be the hardest thing for me. I cant believe how much I am supposed to eat.
The biggest problem with my diet is I dont eat enough. Usually I only eat one meal a day. Sometimes I even have day's where I dont eat at all. Although I have been more hungry since I started exersizing.
I do plan on doing some resistance training I am thinking of getting some dumbell's and a bench to start off. A friend of mine told me he has a bowflex that he bought and never used. He will give it to me if I want. As long as my wife doesn't mind having it in the house I may go with that.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Hey Bob,

Glad you decided to join us. You and your wife are lucky in that you are not sporting excess weight. I'd say get into a fitness lifestyle and your eating will follow. Great idea to quit smoking.

I love the thought of fitness couples. Why not start an online journal for you and the missus?
