Ahhh, let's see, I'm a friend of Vagrant's...5'11", 53, 213 lbs @ 17-18%, and I'll put the boring details in my bio.
I lifted about 5 years, the old "3 sets of 8" until all my joints caved.
Quit for almost 4 years.
Returned using MuscleNow program for over a year until joint caved again.
Discovered HST and did that for about 7-8 cycles. Joints healed on it. Got bigger.
Am presently at the end of the intermediate MadCow 5x5, strong as ever, a bit sore.
Will be using HST as my base workout, alternating with strength programs.
I'm new (7-8 wks) to deads (405x5 so far) and freeweight squats, which I'm having trouble with flexibility in the bottom, so I'm limited at 315 for now until I get the ATG ROM in form. I may not be able to do the
wide stance arched back style; still experimenting.
