Noobie

Hello everyone! My name is Talia and I live in a small town about 30 minutes from the city of Buffalo in New York. I joined this forum to gain new knowledge about exercising and fitness, and have a place to come to ask others when I am in need of assistance.

I currently just graduated fron the Unviversity at Buffalo with an undergraduate degree is Psychology. I am taking some time off while I attempt to take the New York State Trooper exam in January. I hope to succeed in that but if it doesn't work out I will decide then what to do. I have been interested in getting fit and starting a healthy lifestyle that lasts me just that..a lifetime....

I have been getting very frustrated with fall backs and things of this sort so decided to join this website, look around and maybe find some exciting advice! anyways I am babbling way too much so cya!!!

Welcome sweetdream. This is the place to be for advice about fitness.

First I am sure the mods would like to know what you do to stay in shape and how you eat?

The last month or so I started getting back into physical fitness. I have been tracking my caloric intake and when I started averaged around 1300-1400/day with a few days in which I got up to 2000.
I try to eat clean but often times it is hard for me because I still live at home and don't make enough money right now to buy a new set of grocercies just for myself. I live with both my parents and 2 other siblings so for my mother to accomodate just me is out of the question.

My exercising habits are as follows:
I was walking for about 1/2 hour in the morning and using our eliptical for an hour at a pretty good intensity. I started to lose a few pounds but what really cut into it was the way I ate and I know this is something I need to work on.

I posted a reply to someones quesiton about eating 1600 calories per day and after reading what some people replied back to me about caloric intake I feel horrible for giving out such crappy advice. I thought I was doing the right thing when it came to how many calories I needed a day but I am so wrong and confused now I am not sure how to start.

I am going to sign up for a online diary and track that. I will start my own food and workout journal and hopefully get some feedback and see some results

So tell me, did you major in psychology to figure out who is messed up, you are your parents? When my daughter announced that she was going back to school to pursue a doctorate in psychology, this was the line I used. It drew alot of laughs with most people but her.

Again, welcome aboard. Start an Online Journal and get the fitness show on the road.

Have a great day!

Hi Talia (very pretty name) and welcome to DF! I read your other thread, but I didn't post because LadyC and minime had already told you what I would've said.

Thanks everyone..

actually I told everyone that I needed to figure out myself first and then move onto others. I'm pretty sure my boyfriend hates that I am a Psychology major, I am always telling him what he's doing wrong with his emotions and that he needs help!! HAHA

I love this site already!!!!
