How much time a week could you dedicate to weight lifting?
i stopped going to the gym about 3 months ago but plan to go back to it after i have my xray with my back..i already had it examined by the doctor(orthro) but he said that it was just normal but im not satisfied with that..if you looked at it closely the right side of my back is slouched and when i bend down it humpier than the left.. but still the doctor said it was normal. he said my spine is straight and that it was my muscles. id rather take an xray before doing anything. ill probably have my xray next week.

and also the doctor said that i should not work my legs just yet because im still growing. i want to maximize my height.

It's an old weightlifter's myth that lifting weights will stunt growth. If you really want to put on size, you need to work legs, which are the biggest part of the body.

yea I never heard that before.... and I just dont sound logical that weight lifting would stop bone and tendon growth? especially if your drinking 4-8 glasses of milk a day! Not to mention then why would you just not workout your legs... legs isnt the only thing that give you height... doing benchs and and pullups and dips are all expanding your ribcage and shoulder width and height... Sounds like an assinine thing for a doctor to say. i mean your not like 14 years old or younger are you? I would say if your at least 16 years old your good to workout.

really? maybe i should also work my legs when i go back to the gym.. is there really no way to reduce the size of the chins? i cant see my legs looking good without the size of my chins being reduced.

Hello I am new here, but I would like to comment. I agree with the guy that said you need a strong back. Without it you are just wasting your time. My chest does not grow like I would like it to, but it is very strong. I weigh a meager 175 at 5'8" and can press about 385, I have done 415 a few months ago. But I took a long break from the gym due to work. Keep in mind this weight is on a regular old fashioned free weight bench press, not any of these new fancy strength machines. But this brings me to my point, you should never be able to row as much as you are benching, seated or bent over, your lower back just is not designed for that. You want a wider chest do wide grip, or lighter full flys. You want thicker do concentrated close bench. You want strength, stop your bench about an inch or two from touching your chest, go heavy, i mean heavy. when you are done have a friend spot you for four more negatives with a weight you cannot lift normally. 10-15 pounds over your max. This worked for me.
