Hi there!
I found this site after using lifestyle and fitness forum in the UK, and am impressed with the usage, the attitude and the
high level of knowledge.
I've just started a gym programme about 6 weeks ago with the primary aim of
losing weight, followed by changing my body shape, and getting fit and strong.
A bit about me:
I'm 44, caucasian, female - right now I look like the archetypal fair, fat and forty

. I used to be stick thin until I broke my midfoot four years ago and spent the next two years in and out of surgery, and spent twelve weeks bed ridden. I was in a lot of pain, I ate rubbish, drank too much, and went a teeny bit insane. My weight increased by seven stone. Yep, that wasn't a typo.
I've lost three stone by following the Weight Watcher plans, and I joined the local aquafit classes and toned up a bit. I decided to up the ante and join the gym. My weight has plateaued but my shape is changing all the time.
I would like to be part of this forum to learn as much as possible about how my body works. I'm actually a trained nurse by trade, although I stopped nursing over ten years ago. I'm not really inspired by anecdotal evidence; I need hard science!
I'm determined to reach and maintain my goals. I have the love and support of my indescribably loving partner Alex, who tells me I'm pretty and that he's very proud of me. I don't want to let either him, or me, down!
I hope I can add something of value to this community - it's a give and take thing, isn't it!
