Angry

Required Fields

I don't understand why someone feels it important for me to fill in a birthdate (not necessilary mine) in order to save changes to my profile. My opinion is it is my birthdate and I will share it if I want to. Please remove the forced entry.

PS: No one on the web REALLY cares when their cyber friend has a birthday [no way to prove it isn't a fake, anyway].

It has to do with United States COPPA Laws. So we have to require it. Sorry.

OK
BTW: I find that kinda funny since you as a website hoster have no control over what information is presented in that field. How do you know I'm not 12 and entering in data that says I'm 20?

doesn't matter - so long's you've entered that you're over 13, he's in the clear.

Unless you are specifically targetting children who are 13 or under, you do not require it.

Pretty much every forum I've registered on requires a birthdate, or requires you to click a link that says you're 13 or over before you register.

I don't know about those CIRA guys. I had to go through a lot to prove that I owned Beaver not a foreign subsidiary, and that Beaver was a Canadian based company. That I do agree with, as a Canadian E-com company I do not want foreign companies snatching up all the .ca domains. But all the crap they send you otherwise, blah blah election. Blah blah blah vote, blah blah referendum, etc. etc. What kind of sanctioning body do they think they are, the FCC??
