Site slow response time

I have been having real slow response time for the last week. To the point my browser almost times out. It happens everywhere (when getting new posts, activating a post, making a post) and only this site.

If I hit cancel and try again it pops right up. When posting a response I don't want to hit cancel for fear it will clear my post. Can anything be done to speed up the site?

It may be your computer, not the site.

I was having that problem - but not just here - everywhere. Turned out that the POS spyware winfixer had managed to get installed on my system.

It's a bear to remove. I used hijack this to find where in the registry it was, removed all signs of it, then had to do a repair installation of windows. The "nondestructive system recovery". No problems now.

BTW, this site is working just fine for me now.

Sorry Lady C, I have to agree with a_welch. I'm not experiencing any problems with the site.

Lady C, I just had a thought. Perhaps too many cookies saved for this site. Try cleaning your temp folder. Then clean out your prefetch folder. Then clear all cookies.

Here's a useful little free program that can help clean all that stuff up for you. Great privacy helper and makes things a bit faster too.

Did your problem resolve?

I just thought of another thing that can really speed things up. There is a part of windows that controls transition effects, speed of loading pages, It's called SysFader. It can actually cause the system to freeze up, desktop icons to stop working - especially desktop shortcuts to web pages or internet access. Disabling it makes the computer so much faster, function smoother, everything is better.

To do this:

>Click on Start
>Click on Control Panel
>Click on Appearance and Themes
>Click on Display
>Click on Appearance
>Click on Effects
>Uncheck every box
>Click on OK

One more microsoft windows thing that makes your system sluggish is now gone.

Winfixr...one hell of a spyware program to remove! Ugh I had it earlier this year and it's so annoying!! Lock ups and restarts for no reasons.
